That's true - but it cuts both ways. An absolutely terrible Hibs team, one of their worst of all time, beat an absolutely brilliant Hearts team, one of our best of all time, 2-1 in April 1998. And that was only three months after that absolutely brilliant Hearts team went two up in no time over that absolutely terrible Hibs team, it looked for all the world like 7-0 might finally be put to bed... only for us to get complacent and it to end in a wildly implausible draw.

All derbies are one-off games. Anything can happen. It's daft to sit here in early November and think we're somehow doomed in a match which is two months away. As to where we'll end up come May? Top six probably - with for all our many problems, 5th still the most likely resting place.

Bit of a myth that tbh. 9 times out of 10 the derby will be won by the form team.

Which is partly why when I see Hearts fans acting as though they're bound to win the next derby, I shake my head.

Having all that superior wisdom must be both a gift and a curse at times.
