Just left Rumpole and Bailey in cat jail a cattery - we need to leave them in there for a few days while we move house.

There's decent ones out this way if you can be arsed with the travel.
We left the dog at this one a couple of times and he always came out quite happy and was definitely well looked after. We didn't have to do it too often, but some occasions such as weddings etc so there was no family to look after him. http://www.candidacasakennels.co.uk/ This one meant to be ok too https://www.meadowhillcattery.co.uk/catt...mmodation/

It's the one at Ingliston we're using. Mrs Acey booked it on a recommendation from friends whose cats were there for a few days previously, but it turns out they never actually went there to see it themselves (the place does a home pick-up and drop-off service).

We'd thought about it for Oscar but with him being an outside cat didn't think it'd be fair to coop him up for a week. Got a timer food bowl and our neighbour is topping it up each night and checking in on him periodically. When we were away in the summer he ignored me the first few days we were back but was all over the wife and kids

Spent all day sitting on top of the kitchen unit eyeballing us so not totally over it ![]()

Went and rescued them first thing yesterday morning, so a day earlier than originally planned. You wouldn't have known there were two fat cats in the tiny wee cage they were sharing - they were both hiding. Bailey had rubbed some of the fur off his nose because he'd clearly just been sitting with his face squashed up against the wall.
![]() It was Ingliston Kennels and Cattery. Can't speak for how it is for dogs, but I will never be putting my cats into a cat jail again. ![]() Already lost Rumpole in the new gaff - turned out he was chilling out in the eaves for a couple of hours. ![]()

A friend's cat did a runner whilist at the vets in Dalkeith, near the Morrisons, took him a week to make it back to Nitten.

Brutal putting your cats in a cattery

Still spends a good 75% of the day in the house but locking him up for a week would just be traumatising for him. Different with house cats but you really need to properly assess the cattery, there's some decent ones but they are in the minority. Be as well keeping them in their travel box while moving stuff and letting them out at night rather than caged like a lab rat

I know it's different, but my sister puts her dog into the same kennels that he did his puppy classes at. Says that when they go to pick him up after a holiday he looks devastated at having to leave all his pals behind.
![]() I'm sure she used the same place for her house cat (when it was alive). Agree with checking it out first though, would be gutted to put a pet into somewhere that wasn't up to scratch.

I love animals. My daughter has just told me I'm a cat person. I always had me as a dog person. So I can't love both?
