Don't think Shankland is great in the air though. He's not big and strong enough to be a target man but not quick or clever enough to be a guy that will run off defenders shoulders.

I don't think he's got the attributes to do any more, he's incredibly slow. Doesn't even look that sharp in about the box either. Wouldn't look at him and say he's got brilliant movement in the box. Folk have a go at Boyce and he can be frustrating but he's miles better than Armitage in my book.

I think he could be better if we actually played to his strengths rather than him being continually isolated up front on his own chasing balls outside the box.

We do it time and again, sign players who are good on paper, but then fail to play them in the right place or system.

He's not been great but I think the service we're giving him this season has been poor and we're not playing to his strengths. I'd much rather have him on the end of a chance than Boyce anyway.

He was excellent in Riga and at Motherwell recently. Keeps defenders occupied, makes space, has a very decent first touch. Not the quickest but I've never thought, Jesus he's slow.

Always a struggle for strikers when one up top against the old firm.

You can't be basing that on his performances for us. Boyce is nothing special but they are pretty similar levels imo.

Boyce has scored about 80 goals in the Scottish Prem give or take, what has shankland got? About 10/12? With a good chunk of them being penalties.
