Ever since we got the penalty at Hampden against Celtic in the semi final of 2012, I will take whatever decision is given. Whatever the rule was for that one - keep that rule.

Smiths one is 50/50 I think his reaction on how he pulled his arm away made it look a lot worse

That was proper studs up and nowhere near the ball. If you're dishing out reds for Grants then that's a red.

I'd say we need to reign in the reds and penalties tbh. That tackle isn't that bad, hard to see with that quality and no slow down but a yellow would be fair for that imo.
Can't have reds and pens for fucking everything like, the amount of pens since VAR has come in ![]() I'm sure the first World Cup with VAR was the same, pens for absolutely everything.

Of course they need to be reigned in, but that's the precedent they're setting for themselves If grants is a red then that's a red. If the Livi penalty is a penalty then hearts should have had a claim last night. Zero consistency, that's the problem.

There's just too much focus/pressure (?, dunno what the right word is) on refereeing in general and var exacerbates it 10x. Every game has fans whinging cos a decision went against them anyway and var isn't changing that and never will, so much commentary and punditry is focused on refs, it's just endless and boring and feels a bit like the actual game of football is secondary to what the referees are doing. Goal line technology works because it gives you an exact yes or no instantly, var will never ever achieve that.

The refereeing is a shambles at the moment but I don't think that should be a red because they got grants wrong Neither should be reds really, I'm wondering what's happening with this because we should be seeing improvement in the decision making every week if they wanted 3 months to get it right. That's a short space of time to have it nailed and it feels like it's getting worse every week, nae teams are happy with it which should say something to the league/SFA.

Don't really get the controversy with the Grant one tbh, it's a bad tackle. Yeah maybe on another day a different ref gives him a yellow but it's one where you're either lucky to escape with a yellow or get a red and think it's a bit soft. Would be making a complete mockery of the concept of a referee if you overturned or rescinded it.

After a five minute VAR check a few days before grants red, they gave Tony watt a red card, then rescinded it. They're already making a mockery of it Shite cameras and shite referees, what a combo

For the rest you should give the referee only a second look if he wants it. Not 100% against VAR but as expected we're making it a circus here. |
