Tough one because neither will be content to sit on the bench but remains to be seen if Gordon can be anything like the player he was and he was showing signs of his age this season (especially in Europe).

I think Clark's already kept more clean sheets than Gordon this season and while Clark's not a patch on Craig Gordon in his prime, he's a very good goalkeeper at this level. If he keeps this level of performance up, he should keep the gloves next season.

Some of the saves Gordon has made for us bailed out our makeshift defence. Zander has been competent but fairly untroubled.

Defence seems to be taking more responsbility and not relying on a superhero in goals

SJ desperate to keep a good man down because his choice of keeper is either stinking up the Ibrox bench or throwing the ball into his own net Get To Woy

I'm fully on board the Zander hype train. Shite beards or no ticket to board.

Sad you would bury Gordon so easily. Not a PHM.

Clark has stepped up when this could have been a crisis. As SJ said, the defence seems to have tightened up, as i don't think Gordon was to blame for too many goals this season,  but our clean sheet record was dreadful.

The fear now is a Clark injury leaving us with Stewart. His dressing room bantz won't make up for a lack of quality.

All things being equal you'd take Gordon back if he was going to play for years to come, but I'm not sure about derailing Clarks run in the team so Gordon can have another 6-12 month swansong then ride off into the sunset (aka hearts u19 goalie coach).

I don't think I'd thank you for Gordon back in nets this season as much as I love the guy Eek Clark hasn't put a single foot wrong.

Ideal scenario is we have the best 2 keepers in Scotland battling it out for No 1 Vlad Shrug

Gordons mental strength is a joke so wouldn't surprise me one bit if he wins the jersey back for the next 2/3 years. What a chance for Clark to kick on and be the Scotland and Hearts keeper for the next 4/5 years though. Certainly started well.

Clark leaving St Johnstone and being a free agent for ages is one of the weirdest things in football history, obviously worked out class for us but I struggle to understand it.

Gordon in for cups and europe, zander in for the rest Jezza

You dunno what the agreement was for Clark's playing time at hearts when he was brought in pre Gordon injury but if he keeps going the way he is he's going to have a lot of interest if he's back at no.2. Would hate to lose him.

I think the absolute worst case scenario for Clark next season is getting a run in the cups and told he'll be back as no1 the following season. Will be a good problem to have as AP says Pretty good

Aye realistically Clark signed up knowing this season barring injury to Gordon he'd have played no more than a couple of cup ties, so he's getting a lot more gametime than he expected. Should help with him accepting dropping out next season if he's then back to number 1 the following year when Craig hangs up his boots.

FWIW I think Clark has been great and is probably one of the top keepers in the country, but he's not as good as Gordon. No disgrace in that clearly but if Gordon gets back to full fitness it would be madness to leave him out to keep a lesser keeper happy.

What's the clean sheet ratio between them, I can think of 4 clean sheets for Clark this month which his pretty impressive tbf, he also seems to be a bit more assured with his distribution, Gordon tended to hack one or two in to the middle of the park every other game.

Personally don't think Clark has shown he is a step down on Gordon at all.

Not saying he's as good as remains to be seen how long he can keep this up but he's pulled off some big saves, can't mind what game but he was pulling out the double stops in one of his first few games. See how he gets on between now and end of the season but for me he's been brilliant.

It's not a bad problem to have for sure.

I wonder if the fact Zander can play football is a factor in the defence improving? Obviously a lot of their improvement is down to becoming better at defending, but maybe the fact they can go back to Clark and not immediately be back on the defensive helps? There is a big difference between being able to use the goalkeeper to move the ball about and giving the ball to the keeper who immediately hits it at the opposition CM.

We seem to be forgetting that people were starting to say the unthinkable before Gordon got injured - was he starting to age and drop a level? Not sure if it's a wise call to go with a keeper people were beginning to worry about ahead of a guy who has shown he can be our keeper for the next 5 years at least.

Clark is a very good SPFL keeper but Gordon pulls off genuinely world class saves. It's not really a criticism of Zander to say he doesn't have as high a ceiling as potentially Scotland's best ever keeper though Laugh

Think his run of clean sheets has started since he tidied up his QAnon neckbeard into something a bit more respectable Sally

Tbh Ive felt Gordon was off the pace in quite a few games and although he pulls off some ridiculous saves, his distribution was horrendous for a while (never been his strongest point), and we were leaking lots of goals. Defence was a shambles as well, all the injuries etc so you cant lay blame with him, but not sure he was at his best. He had just had a newborn baby and can guarantee he'd been in a sleep deficit at times as well.

So jury is out but it will be a massive call to potentially jeopardise our longer term goalkeeping solution but then again if he is back and as good as ever, be hard to leavbe him out.

I do think Clark has been superb since he came in. Genuinely not put a foot wrong and made some excellent saves. Would have kept clean sheet in paisley, but for a huge deflection.
