I think he would have wanted to keep Beni. Plays him every chance he gets and said this when the contract talks started:

Jamestown will be controlling who goes imo. That's where the friction will come. Mcinnes is huge on building a team full of trusted players and JTA is practically the opposite

Yeah I don’t get why AP keeps saying this. Del wants rid of everyone apart from Shanks and Devlin who are both judases. Then the Halkett/Leonard injuries. None of this rebuild is hearts or JTAs fault.

Aye Devlin, Shanks and Beni when fit were picked last season, everyone else were sporadic picks or occasional late subs so we’re not losing much.

Devlin & Beni were known for a while which is why Renaud was targeted 

I would hope plans were in place for a Shanks replacement knowing the clause existed

It's all well and good wanting Beni being kept but the boys only fit for 50% of the season, we can't carry players like that anymore. 

Rated him highly when he played and wouldn't have been upset at keeping him as a squad option but I also completely understand why he's been let go. I also highly doubt Del hasn't been an intricate part of discussions about who we're giving new contracts to.
