They're incredibly, terrifyingly good at it. In 2015, voters were left confused and basically not knowing what Miliband stood for: his core message constantly changed. No such chickenshit hesitancy from the Tories; their message discipline is amazing, essentially because they're ruthless bastards who know their game inside out.

Corbyn knows he won't win this election, that's why he's come out with such a fanciful manifesto. He knows none of it adds up and will get torn to shreds over the next 4 weeks but the aim of it will be to make a bit of ground and keep their current voters. He'll easily take over 30% of the popular vote I reckon. Just a shame that Labour didn't have somebody in charge just now to tap in the countless open goals the Tories have given him.

Gramsci's prison notebooks on cultural hegemony explains most of what chomsky expresses in the Marr interview.

Shaun loves election time because The Guardian boots up their poverty porn roadshow bus to see what the rest of Britain looks like.
What's staggering about it? Fairly standard austerity-rooted issues replicated all across the country. Maybe if The Guardian pushed this 52 weeks a year it may have some traction, but the poverty porn bus will be put back in the garage until the next election/referendum.

Scott is right. Nobody gives a shit about things like the NHS or Poverty unless there is an election.

What's staggering is people being affected horrendously by cuts - basically having any quality of life wrecked - then for the first time in their lives, voting Tory. Oh, and John Harris pushes this stuff all the time. I think him and Aditya Chakrabortty are The Guardian's best by a country mile. But Harris has also known, long before other writers on the left, just how fucked Labour are.

The segment of that clip with the closed children's centre was pretty depressing.
There are lots of single parents out there who struggle to find work due to childcare costs. It would be brilliant if there was some kind of scheme in which centres like the one in the clip could be staffed mainly by volounteers who struggle to find work due to childcare costs, there own kids could be apart of the intake and for one or two days a week volounteering they get childcare the other three or four to allow them to work and earn. Not sure how feasible that is in reality, it just feels as if these people that have kids without a support network in place struggle.

A person called Lord Buckethead is standing against Theresa May in the election. Unclear if same Lord Buckethead who opposed Thatcher in 87.
