Looking for some suggestions here, guys.    Heading on holiday at the start of September for 7 days - wanting somewhere still warm, not that busy but not that quiet.  Decent night life in the sense of bars/restaurants - not that fussed on the clubbing side of things.   Tend to just chill during the day, watching the football on the TV and have a few beers.  At night is our for dinner then having a good kick of the ball.

Magaluf mate, plus if you're taking the wife you won't have to pay for a drink all night.

guys, give serious advice please

In September, Turkey is still hot, great value for money and they love their football. just make sure you choose a nice location.

If you have a bit of cash then santorini in greece is supposed go be superb.

Canary islands are also still warm in September, or andalucia. all three andalucian teams are in la liga this season so you could grab a cordoba, granada or malaga game.

Algarve is good (I'm there every year advantage of the sister in law living there) and can't recommend it enough

Avoid Albufeira but go for a decent sized town away from there and there will still be plenty of bars / restaurants to go to and it's ridiculously cheap

In laws stay in a place called Tavira and 4 of us out for dinner rarely goes over 60/70 euros including wine etc

I was going to suggest Turkey. NY Times was all over it in an article I read this morning.

Beirut would be the perfect destination for the OP.

I'll even pay his fare.

We stayed in the old part of Albufiera and it wasn't bad, food pretty disappointing though. Vilamoura seemed nice when we visited

Cheers guys. Was just outside Malaga last year - looking for something similar but a different destination.

Funnily enough I had been thinking about Turkey. For some reason though, and I'm going to be totally judging a place on this, but every fucker I have spoken to about that place always tells tales of 3 hour coach journeys from airport to hotel Laugh

You looked at renting a car? We did that the last time we went away and got a surprisingly reasonable price.

Don't drive, Sterling. Would be happy enough if the place is an hour from the airport - anything longer than that no ta

I've never been myself, my judgement of the place is purely based on some of the cretins going there who I had to share a plane with

Flights to Turkey are usually pretty rank as well from most Scottish Airports.

Playa de los Pocillos (Lanzarote) has nice bar areas cheap Hotels and some nice shopping.

Have never been but have heard Vilamoura is pretty decent for a late summer holiday.

Was going to suggest Malaga sort of area because that's where I went last year but seems like that's already been checked off the list already.

After spending Christmas and New Year in South Africa, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it - reasonably cheap flights in Sept, temperature in the mid to high 20's, excellent restaurants, cheap and brilliant accommodation in 4/5* hotels..

Oh, and a channel dedicated to showing all EPL games, 24/7....
