went to see Sicario with the missus, solid performances from Brolin, Del Toro and Emily Blunt but I found the story a bit underwhelming tbh

Macbeth 8/10
Loved this adaptation, although they swapped lady Macbeths and Macduffs lines near the end which was irritating. Also monologues don't work on the cinema screen the way they do in theatre, but that's not the movies fault.

Pan - 6.5/10
Good for what it is, Jackman is hammy as fuck as Blackbeard, the lassie who plays Tiger Lily is alright (think its the same person who played Lisbeth Salandar in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) The boy who played Hook was nippy as fuck and weird casting as can't see how he could become the character you see in later movies

Sicario - Excellent thriller. Loved the pounding score.
8/10 The Walk - Really enjoyed this, saw at the IMAX and the finale is terrific. 8/10
Slapshot - Had never seen it before. That's how you make a sports movie. It should feel like a project you and your pals undertake that summer when you're 14.
The Crucible - Doesn't translate as well as i'd hope to the screen, but Ryder is really good and it's worth the ticket cost for Day Lewis' two shouty scenes - "I have known her, sir!" and "I have given you my soul, leave me my name!". Dem acting feels

One of my favourites and one of the best sports movies ever. Apparently it was Paul Newman's favourite film to shoot.

I'd really recommend the film about the child soldiers with Idris Elba in it, on Netflix.
Really good, and it's an original Netflix film. Free if you subscribe but i'm sure they're releasing it in the cinema too.

Not watched it yet but heard a review last week. Think it was in the cinema for a few days before going on Netflix

Lot of cinemas are boycotting it on the grounds that Netflix killed video rental stores and will kill them next
True tbf.

Cinema will never die but Netflix really has changed the way we watch stuff. If you talked to a kid today about renting a video from blockbusters they'd be like

I wouldn't be so sure about cinema never dying. It's a ridiculously overpriced experience.
