Because fuck you
Question - Does anyone know the reasons for British support of the French Royalists during the Revolutionary Wars? Was reading a bit about this earlier, it's probably the most war filled period of history that I know nothing about. Was it simply a case of royalty looking out for royalty and the threat of Republicanism, or were there Imperial and geo-political factors of self-interest above and beyond the threat of revolution spreading? Reaching out to #thf's history buffs for any information or links they can provide.
I went from the introduction of British income tax to French Revolution/Napoleonic Wars to the Siege of Toulon and Britain's unintentional role in basically making Napoleon the man he came to be.
