Well yeah, top up, vest down and the baby's head covers? Fairly simple.

"Extended breastfeeding" probably isn't as it seems for most people anyway. You've got people like her that seem to want to force it. My first was about 22 months when she stopped and second is 19 months and still feeds.

I can take her away for a couple of days at a time though so it's not something being forced on her. It's maybe once a day at that point? Think scientifically most kids naturally wean completely between 2-3.

It's not that you're meant to stop, more that it's about the time when kids are getting in to their food and it's about the right time for their development. Or, atleast it'll start to get phased out. It's just that people think breastfeeding kids when they're older is creepy. It is. I've never watched that prequel to Psycho they made, but i'd imagine norman bates was breastfeed to a decent age.

It's an utterly banal act to anyone not involved, ie mum and baby. Anyone not involved who gives it a second thought has issues.

Breastfeeding a toddler publicly and online is even weirder.
Campaigning to normalise breastfeeding toddlers is proper oddball behaviour. Not like the kid is campaigning for their right to tit milk, so it's 100% down to the mother wanting to do it. Gets creepy in that regard.

In regards to the general breastfeeding of children, I've got no issue with it at all. If a mum wants to walk down the street with a kid on each tit then all the power to her. I couldn't care less. Pretending not to understand how someone else might care though is disingenuous, of course you can understand. You might not agree with it, but it's not hard to see their side. (the general you, not you Walt).

It's a tricky one. I've just read an article that, like AP, obtusely compares "if you don't want leered at for breastfeeding then use a blanket" to "if you don't want raped don't show flesh". I think that's in incredibly bad taste and makes the topic much more emotive than it should. If you can feed your child in public without offending anyone by simply covering your breast with a blanket, why wouldn't you? What benefit is there to doing it openly other than "because I can"?

That wee boy in Riverfell on Game of Thrones is still getting breast fed and he is a total physco.

I've seen women doing it without a blanket and it's still discreet.

I'd find a woman breastfeeding their 5 year old odd though, not because she's got her pap out but because he's at school and still getting breast fed.

See when kids that age are still getting breastfed, do they eat anything else?

That's kinda what I was getting at. At that age (atleast from my experience) breastfeeding is only a tiny part of their diet.

It's recommended to 2 by the WHO but that's not exclusive. That's alongside solid food.

Agree with that. Re someone who has maybe appeared in the backroom, my guess is that she's a possible contender for that kind of behaviour.

Kate Dickie comes in to my work quite often and I chat with her when I get the chance. It's hard to get the above image and some of the stuff she gets up to in Red Road out my mind when you're having a lovely chat about Ben Wheatley movies or city centre parking.

Breastfeeding mums shouldn't have to do anything. They're entitled to do what they want. Unfortunately there's a contingent in our society that don't want bare breast in their view when they eat their tea. If there's 2 ways to breastfeed, one which upsets others one that doesn't*, and you choose the one that upsets others, can you be surprised when others get upset? I agree that these people shouldn't be bothered by it, but that doesn't change the fact that they are.

It's nothing to do with sexualisation before anyone starts. From the anecdotes I've read today and in the past, it's mostly women shaming other women.
