I'm hearing £3 million from Derby for Paterson in January.

I'd be amazed if it was 7 figures.

Absolutely no chance of £3 million when even £1 million would do.

3 million, in January or a scrap with 6/7 clubs in the summer. I think someone will take a decent sized punt on him January.

Paterson will be able to negotiate with other clubs in January. If they want him they offer the best deal then get him signed up the same way they would in the summer. Giving a fee won't change that.

Once he's signed they offer Hearts increments of £50k until we accept.

If we get a fee approaching 7 figures for Paterson in January we'll have done very well.

Surely clubs would rather pay him a larger wage and signing on fee rather than fork out 3m and have to do that anyway?

I don't think we'll get much for him.
