My bursd has jury duty on Monday so she was just looking up what will be happening on the day.
Why do you have to opt out of doing a religious oath? ![]() Surely affirming the oath should be the standard rather than swearing on god

There wasn't any oath when I was on jury duty at the High Court.

Genuinely surprised that you would swear on god unless you made the point to affirm. Fuck knows CK, that's where she's going and the info she's reading say the jurors will be asked to swear the oath or affirm.

You can swear on whatever you want no? I plan on swearing on a printout of Acey's best posts when the 5-0 finally catch up with me.

2017 Anniversary Games: Tom Bosworth smashes one mile walk world record
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/40549175 ![]() Is there a more pointless world record, or event even, than the one mile walk? I don't get it. I'm sure he's a very good walker, but what's the point? How do you even become a competitive walker? Does someone decide you're just never going to be a professional runner and suggest walking instead? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

She'll do the affirmation thing for sure.

Then again, you still have gowns, maces and wigs (no jokes pls) in court, so they're not exactly known for being at the cutting edge of progress. ![]() The clerk asks the jury for a show of hands for the oath and affirmation respectively before administering either. Usually about 60/40 in favour of oath, based on what I've seen. Nobody will bat an eyelid.
