Absolutely should have been booted off the flight. They seem to have only called the police as a reaction to the video going public.

RyanAir are an awful company but surely it's pretty obvious why people fly with them.

Exactly. I'm flying Ryanair back to London next Monday after the semi. Yes they're awful but the flights were 30 quid; I'm not going to pay another 100 quid on top of that just to fly BA.

Well, I take your point on this occasion but it's not some 'fantasy world' at all.

Take just about any business you like. Treating staff badly - making them work ridiculous hours, paying them pathetically etc - and treating customers badly too, is completely contrary to sensible business practice. It's become increasingly normalised, yes - but it's still totally contrary to it.

Britain's productivity figures have long been a thing of horror. Countries with poor productivity figures don't grow sustainably; they have to plug leaks everywhere all the time. When businesses don't treat staff properly, it demotivates and demoralises them, so they get worse results. When businesses don't treat customers properly, customers often go elsewhere. (Except for routes which nobody else covers).

I've long believed productivity would be higher if Britain had a four-day working week. That's the subject of experiments elsewhere which are already suggesting that. The post-war period of prosperity wasn't some coincidence. It was because countries with social consciences do better, for natural human reasons.

What's PM standing for in this instance?

Pretty limited dataset on the 4 day week and not all positive. I'm not convinced by it personally, not least because technology means people are always connected to work regardless of whether they're 'in' or not, and certainly sceptical that it would lead to anything other than worse working conditions on those 4 days in this country, where we don't give a fuck about workers at the best of times. Was it The Gambia who abandoned it, I think? Not a massively encouraging sign

Acey, I'm unionised up to my leftist eyeballs so I'm not going to knock an extra day off I'm just yet to be convinced that a 4 day week here would actually improve our overall working conditions when there are already so many other deep rooted problems
