Yeah so maybe just a layer, depends on taste. I had some new potatoes so boiled them till soft ( splitting the skin) then cut them into thin slices, then put them on as a layer. Think I had a layer of green/white/pasta then went pasta/white sauce/potatoes/green sauce/pasta/white sauce or something like that. You don't need to be precise. But make sure you use plenty garlic.
Only did one layer of tatties, was fine for me.
I suppose you could mix it up and do one with chicken or Turkey mince with sage and sweet potato.
