Could be. Been looking at spider pictures for a bit now (no fun ) but haven't managed to identify with any certainty. Used a mag glass on it and it did seem to have a death head look on it's back, it was pretty wee, like 5-7mm.

The false black widow seems to be mainly in the south, altho they say it's getting further north. I did see two more shortly afterwards in same immediate area once I's stopped hopping around and swearing. Maybe babies or young of sorts.

Put it this way, I'll know to keep away from them if I see them again, or wear gloves for weeding which is nigh on impossible.

Thankfully none of those buggers , though I have had pb cubs, a rabid fox and seals all go for me, ohh and a muskox (that was really scary). These wee spider cunts hurt, was really quite surprised!
