Met two fully grown ones once when Daisy was a tiny puppy. Lovely big things - Daisy was absolutely ringing from their slavers Warnock

Was shocked when the woman told me they're swimming dogs; they look like they'd sink like a stone.

Thats the one thing they need to watch out for- the amount of slabbers he's going to produce. Can just see all the bairns going round and greeting after they get drowned in them.Warnock

What are folk going to do about walking their dogs if they have to self isolate?

I see Edinburgh reddit are setting up something where healthy folk can walk dogs for people.

See all this people going out their way to do things for vulnerable/isolated people, I think it's great that folk are all chipping in but is this not one of the very few times where a big community effort could do more harm than good?

I think the virus can travel on objects too it's not just human to human transmission.  That's why they initially thought dogs could get it because the virus was present on swabs of their fur.

If it is said to be ok I'd 100% be putting my name forward to help local people in the area with it but who knows if that is a good idea Eek

Something like 72 hours on stainless steel. 3 hours in the air.

I think you just have to accept the risk in some cases. The alternative is your dog doesn't get exercise for however long and shits all over the house.

Or the person in self isolation takes the dog outside their front door for the dog to do a shit then back up the stairs immediately. Dogs are defo not going to get exercised enough just now and think there will be a lot of restless barking dugs in tenements.

I don't think you can just accept the risk because this is about taking the most efficient ways to reduce the spread, again there is absolutely nae guidance at all on what to do with pets so I'd be avoiding offering to go walk folks dugs incase that is proven to be worse for spreading it than someone doing it themselves. Obviously that breaks the whole self isolation in your house thing but if you don't come into contact with anyone while doing it would that not be better than interacting with more folk than you usually would?

I dunno man, the gvt need to get their arse in gear and give more guidance on how they see life continuing just now outwith washing your hands and staying in if you have a cough.

Surely self isolation isn't literally never leaving your house? You can go outside and walk your dog without interacting with anyone or anything.

Again dunno because they never seemed to explicitly state what self isolation actually meant Jezza

Me and my bursd are doing it now and I had to go to the shops yesterday.  Just made it quick and went to the self service.   No idea if what I done was stupid or not.

Looking at other nations guidance, because the UK is a joke, it's more about social distancing to avoid it spreading or you catching it. If you fancy a walk in the park then go for it. Just don't head down to your local and get smashed and close with your entire wee town.

People need to eat. Even looking at Italy, food shops are still open so assuming that people still use them. Advice I've seen is do it, and wash your hands as soon as you get home.
