Finished Shadow of War last night. Pretty decent game, but falls into the usual open-world game pattern of pointless collectables a bit. Gave the super-grindy "epilogue" a swerve and just watched the "true" ending cinematic on Youtube.

Class game but I chucked that bit as well, absolute farce. I've been playing AC odyssey which is basically the same game, so fucking good I love the system where you hunt down the mercenaries or whatever they're called in SoW

Playing odyssey again too. Great game.

Yeah - something like 20-30 fort defences in all, combined with grinding in between in order to recruit higher level orcs to stick in your forts. I was level 41 when I finished the main game (something like 72% completion) with some absolute scrub-tier orcs posted in the forts you capture as part of the main story. Checked youtube for someone doing the Stage 10 defences and I'd have needed to replace them all with like level 60 orcs. No thanks.

Aye it gets solid and you're basically just doing the same thing over and over so it's a bit pointless, I suppose they were just trying to keep people playing once the story was finished but it didnt look worth it at all.

You should give AC Odyssey a go, odd Acey

Any suggestions on a gaming PC, I was tempted to get a PS5 but might switch over and just use a controller for first person shooter type games

Depends on your budget and what you're looking for in terms of performance tbh. "Gaming laptops" don't give you much bang for your buck, whereas putting your own components together does. I started off with a pre-built PC in 2012/13 and have upgraded parts since.

All about opinions that one I think. Half the streamers playing Warzone etc are on a controller and the other half are keyboard and mouse.

The streamers who play on PC almost all use keyboard and mouse tbf.

I don't think it's as much about opinions really, it's just fact it's easier to aim with a mouse than the thumbstick. Loads of people brought up playing consoles struggle to adapt as it's a pretty steep learning curve but if you can master it you'll definitely have an advantage over console players.

You could compromise with something like the Steam Controller, but it's a bit of an acquired taste.

You get used to keyboard and mouse pretty quickly. Either way, it's not a big deal, since you can just plug an Xbox controller in whenever you want (I played Shadow of War with one).

There's a couple on Facebook Y8 and nitroluke who use controllers I'm sure and they hate the mouse and keyboard.

Usually when you see these types of debates it's both sides saying that both have advantages over the other. That's why I was saying it's all about opinions

Don't think I could be arsed trying to learn mouse/keyboard now tbf. Would probably like a shot of it to see what the differences are but reckon I'd be shite and not got the patience to learn

I remember seeing a video which made clear that Warzone is ridiculously generous with aim assist if you're using a controller tbf.

Well it doesn't work very well for me

Aim assist on these games is generally brutal tbf - mind the Fortnite one just dragged your cursor towards the enemy player, so you couldn't lead your shots. Turned it off.

Will have a look at some options tonight. First thoughts on that one is that 8GB RAM is a minimum requirement these days, a 1060 will be solid but unspectacular and a 128GB SSD is too small for doing much other than installing Windows on.
