these things are usually paid in instalments. I'd definitely consider Shankland around the 400k+ mark.

I think the Shank would be a very good signing, he needs out of that cesspit that is Dundee United with their Ian Cathro manager. I've backed them to go down this season.

If we had 500k to band about, there's 2 ways we can do it.

1. Buy Shankland cos Robbie feels he got a tune out of him in Scotland's 2nd tier. Backing a Manager who likely won't be here by Christmas.

2. Call a meeting with Joe Savage, Director of Football, and William Lancefield, our new Head of Recruitment. Tell them they've got 500k to buy the best centre forward they can. Whoever that may be using their combined contacts, sources and experience. Even if it's a player Hearts fans haven't heard of.

Personally? I'll go 2. But then we don't have 500k cos we need it to finish Budge's near 26m stand and balance the books after Budge got us relegated and pumped out two cups by middle aged men. So it's all academic.

No 2 sounds like a recipe for disaster
