I would put my house on him going to jail for tax fraud or being involved with a Ponzi scheme, at some point.

Genuinely don't understand why he deleted the second one as his fanbase would 100% say that he'd 'grafted for his money and is a positive fella who can spend it on whatever he likes'.
The first was quite obviously him hinting at something that's not yet meant to be public.

Anybody been to Marseille, recently-ish? Daughter just asked me if I could maybe cover a shortfall in flight costs as she and her two girlfriends want to go, 'because its one of the places her half French friend has always wanted to visit'.
Help!?

She was skeptical when her friend initially mentioned it but has now come to the realisation that it's probably not for them. I said it would probably be fine, they'd need to be aware, etc but on the whole it likely wouldn't be a carefree and fancy destination. I've been meaning to get there for a while myself, for the football, and well, the rest takes care of itself. Hopefully between the three of them they can find somewhere a little less stressful.

Last time I went to Marseille was probably around 2018, but it's one of my favourite cities in France. If she sticks to central areas, and maybe visits some of the surrounding areas of interest (the calanques, Aix etc) she'll have a great time. Like any other big city, there are also dodgy neighbourhoods, and the areas that are dodgy (particularly in the north of the city) are more so than in a lot of places, but it's still well worth visiting.

Avoid. Migrant cesspit.
Strasbourg and Bordeaux (albeit when I was 12) are probably better options.

Thanks, Mak. They're looking at Aix, with maybe a trip in for the day, and also the Calanques NP.

I did actually consider saying that obviously these things are different for young women, but tbh I don't really think it makes a difference here if they were to stick to tourist areas - the same kinds of harrassment you're hinting at would be just as much of a possibility in Paris, Lyon, or Toulouse, for example. Or London, Berlin, etc. Young women in general need to take more care than men of any age when travelling, and if they're very unused to travelling alone then this could be an issue, but otherwise you'd advise them to take care in any big city. Granted, it's going back a while now (2013 ) but when I was living just outside Marseille most of my social circle were young British women and they loved the city (living somewhere isn't the same as being a tourist etc etc, I know).

My pal was in Marseille with his bursds a few year ago and they both enjoyed it. Obviously would stay away from the local high rises but get the feeling the locals would be more

Went the Blair Drummond at the weekend there and it was wasp central, never seen so many of them before. I imagine there’s nothing they can do about it but it ruined it a wee bit for the kids and I’d think twice about going back
