A boy at work was coming out with the very same 'never lost a game of fives' patter. We then got a game arranged, made the teams suitably uneven and scudded them by double digits.
Cyclists are scum

We played the poles at work in a game of 7's a couple of weeks ago and we absolutely shredded them they actually thought they'd beat us too

![]() Always with the strangest boasts. Just in from my second session in the States, Yanks are ...interesting when it comes to playing fives/sevens. Routinely make utterly baffling decisions about passing or running with the ball, frequently run it out of play under no pressure and basically everyone thinks they're a striker. They do a lot better with the physical side of the game than the Japanese or Koreans did in my experience, but that's about it.

Any lassies in the game, snake? Always thought their technique and balance was really impressive although their decision making was just as baffling as male yanks.

Whenever I think of Snake playing 5s in the Far East I just have some image of him skittling opponents like children left right and centre

Two, neither were up to much but no worse than most of the others in all fairness. Was quite amused by one of them shouting at her team to 'shoot the fucking bawl' in a Long Island accent. There was an American lass in my group in Japan who was pretty decent on the ball but slow and weak off it, bit of a luxury player in a mostly male game but suspect she'd be handy against other women. Good eye for a pass though, handed me a few goals ![]() (04-06-2019, 08:43 AM)Bert Le Vein Wrote: Whenever I think of Snake playing 5s in the Far East I just have some image of him skittling opponents like children left right and centre Not too far from the truth I had a good 10-15kg of muscle on most of my opponents so bullied my way to more than a few goals. I've never been an especially technical player but found that a bit of upper body strength and aggression went a long away over there.

First game back tonight since lockdown.
![]() Started well, got on the scoresheet, then my severe lack of fitness kicked in and I went in goals for a breather. ![]() Was good to be back though, good to see some of the guys again, but I reckon I'm going to be struggling tomorrow though.

I've been back playing 7's for a few weeks and I'm slowly getting past the ruined joints the next day. Fitness is still god fucking awful but it was like that before lockdown too
Boy last week knocked the ball over the fence and decided to try and climb over it rather than go through the gate. Ended with him in A&E for 14 stitches in his finger and nerve damage near the top. The photo he sent us was harrowing, like.

I know a guy with one less finger because of that exact situation.
09-24-2020, 08:53 PM
knew a guy ripped his pinkie off doing that. `docs could have saved the finger if his brother hadn't stopped off to roll and smoke a j on the way to the hospital

It's just fucking stupid bravado. He could've walked 10 yards to the gate, the ball was on that side anyway.

Think it's our fifth week this Sunday, and it was only just last week that I actually felt okay-ish by the end of the day on Monday, and that was after we had dropped back to 10 on the pitch after having a solid 12 the previous weeks. In hindsight I think it was probably easier as it was a slower game (energy conservation) but big hitters back again this week so it'll be a stop, start 100mph game again; no good for the muscles/joints!
