22 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the last month Crowe

Are they doing anything other than these £950 stimulus cheques?

Stimulus cheques are for everyone. Unemployment is $600 a week, which is what the 22 million will have filed for.

It's the government relief package, it goes on top of whatever their usual state unemployment is so is actually a fair bit more than £480 a week.

Do they get any other benefits on top of that or do they just get the single payment and it covers everything.

Don't know about UC, but JSA was in the region of £70 a week. That said, if someone was on JSA you'd expect them to get housing and council tax benefit too.

Are Americans no all on ridic wages though?  I'm sure their average wage is something like $60k so it makes sense their benefits would be higher compared to ours.

Just read it's only for 4 months. Still going to be unemployed and in the midst of a recession after that.

I thought it was $1200 per month?

Anyway, so much for the government "bigging" up the fact we're supposedly over the peak and starting to head down.

Deaths up by 861 today, which is 100 more than yesterday.

Officially extended for 3 weeks.

Listening to his 5 points that need to be met in order to reduce the restrictions, I can see this going on for at least another 6 weeks.

Not right now.

One-time payment for those who qualify. Mrs Plissken and I don't because we lived outside the US until recently.

A lot of conditions attached to it, you don't get it if you quit or if you make more than $500 a month elsewhere.

Zlat

No, the average is high because of the absurd wealth of the top 0.1%.

About 45% of the population are effectively on poverty-level wages.

It should be, but it's not.

The mental thing is how much economic activity that would encourage.
