Folk on here were raging that Shteve Clarke sabotaged Shanks by starting him against Netherlands though. Monty Umm

Shankland blew it last night. He looked really out of shape tbh.

He’s played so many minutes this season he looks fucked and probably trying too hard to impress whereas at Hearts it comes naturally to him.

I don't think I'd start Christie.

I'd have Mcgregor and Gilmour with McTominay and McGinn slightly more advanced.

Shanks hasn’t had enough time with Scotland imo, we should be going into this tournament with a group who know each other inside out.

Injuries throw a spanner in the works there tbf but I think you need to go with Adams then chuck shanks on towards the end when you’re gasping on a goal. We got pumped against the Netherlands but he looked decent in that game and was unlucky with a couple good chances, don’t think he’s a million miles away from deserving that spot but I suppose he has played a lot of football and is toiling physically.

Best case scenario for hearts is he has a quiet euros, the interest doesn’t quite materialise and he signs a new deal.

Didn't see that myself tbh, he was putting in a fair shift trying to link the play up with boys who definitely weren't at it (Forrest and McGinn in particular). If some of the clearer chances that were fluffed fell to Shankland he'd have had a couple.

Hate to agree with El Tel, but the heat, fear of injuries, and playing a team trying not to ship a barrel load of goals wasn't a great combination for a good game. Good for getting minutes in but you're not learning anything from that game and I'd question the thought process behind organizing it tbh.

You've got to have some pace in there surely. Christie can drive with the ball as well/carries much more of a goal threat than gilmour?

If you’ve got something to prove you need to at least get a shot on target against a mob that would get relegated from the SPL. Adam’s coming on and scoring just made it look worse for him unfortunately.

I've seen too many anonymous performances from Christie, feel like games just pass him by more often than not, Mcginn and McTominay are both much better advanced than deeper in midfield for me and our main goal threats.

Englands squad looks quality up front but goalkeeper, defence and most of the midfield is pretty rank.

I was thinking that when you see it written down it doesn't look all that strong.

If things pan out as planned they’ll probably have to beat Italy in the quarters and France in the semis then another good team in the final.

It’s genuinely hard to imagine Southgate managing that and that’s not bitter jock tears.

They’ve had such easy fucking draws in recent tournaments.

That Italy squad is fucking woeful, I'd need to have a look at their group but I fancy them to flop hard.

They’ve got a tricky group tbf but I believe that’s based on finishing second.

Italy in major tournament QF in Germany is a hard game for England regardless of the current squad. Even if they got through it would take a big effort and then to beat France in a semi? Can’t see it.

Italy have been shite for years, all their best players retired, yet they won the last Euros.
I would not be underestimating them, their younger players will have more experience now.

That squad is doing nothing, they still had leaders like Bonucci and Chiellini at the last Euros.

Give me the best 3 leaders in the tournament, then we can narrow the winner down.
