Can we make sure the CL theme tune isn't played at the end of the Falkirk game - it's a bit premature....

Well, he's not seen us being able to challenge for the title at any point, this season.

Hard to say, i have a feeling celtic will just throw a whole bunch of money at the problem in the summer tbh this season will have put the shiters up them and they can afford to do it. You'd imagine Rangers will still far out spend us as well and they're recruitment could look better now that daft sporting director is out the picture.

It wasn't a loaded question was genuinely just asking if he seen us going again Laugh

I'm no sure i do see hearts as a team that now challenge for the title every season though, we're still very early in the process but it will come again. JTA drastically improves us but the financial gap still remains.

It's sad to see what father time has done to you, tbh. Risk averse, afraid of progress and generally a deeply fearful man.

Those who have the courage to get things done will actualise succesful futures on the behalf of those paralysed by fear. Bloom is one of those men.

I've been worried a wee bit about how we react to next season when we might not challenge (this season and title charge has come about 5 year ahead of schedule, totally unexpected). We're definitely on the right track to go for it consistently every year but it wouldn't surprise me if next season we don't quite hit these heights while they two improve. It'll be seen as a "regression" and can see the cammos and terrys of the support throwing their toys out the pram and us taking a bit of flak in the media if/when we don't maintain another challenge into the latter stages of the season. Needs some cool heads.

Celtic might have the money but their recruitment is shite. Chucking cash at the problem isn’t a guarantee that they’ll fix it

Aye agree, don't think hearts not challenging = regression. For me celtic & rangers have the ability to improve far quicker and easier with the cash they have behind them where for us it's going to take time.

If we don't challenge next season i'm not going to be worried. Big thing for me is continuing to recruit and sell well because that's where we build the foundation to challenge consecutively. A bit too early to expect it the now. Although i was seething at Bloom when he said he wanted to see us challenge this season on the back of last and they've went and delivered it so fuck knows, maybe we can do it again Laugh

A big part of us challenging this season was the lack of European football and being papped out both cups early doors.

I think there's a good chance that next season is more about consolidating in third/pushing for second than going for the league again and that that would actually be bang in line with the plan. Depends on how we/the OF recruit over the summer obviously, but our points tally this year (I think) is quite far below what would generally win the league. Probably lose Braga, see who we replace him with, see how guys signed in January look with a full pre-season (not impossible we'll see a Harry Milne type who signed in January, barely played, then is a key player next season) and then see where we are. Not impossible we'll challenge again, but pushing for second rather than first wouldn't be a failure.

We'll spend good money this summer. Our midfield is going to improve considerably with Beni and Devlin leaving which will improve our style of play.

Celtic have an entire rebuild of their club to go through. McGregor rumoured to be off to Saudi, Maeda will be away. Martinez or Keane likely to be the manager which isn't daunting at all imo. Rangers are in crisis yet again. Who knows who their manager will be next year and they need to get a new recruitment team in.

McInnes teams generally improve the more time he spends at the club. He's also went to another level as a manager this season.

The glass ceiling has been smashed. We can be right up there again next year with the right recruitment.

I think the glass ceiling is going to remain firmly in place in the men's game, and rightly so.

Every team takes a dip when they are in europe. The dip may be recoverable post January if we can stay within 8-10 points of 1st place. Buy a few January JTA's and go on a mad run til May.

If we win the league next year, I imagine us being in 3rd for majority and then potentially taking 1st. Basically doing a Celtic Muggy

I wonder if JTA will cash in on Braga and Kizy (maybe even Milne) in order to fund a CL push in the qualifiers ?

We try and sell at highest value. Braga is a cert to go. Kyzi's maximum resale value probably comes after a stronger second season, so I'm erring towards he'll stay.

Milne will be here for the majority of the rest of his career unless a left field bid comes in.
He's 29 now, resale value theoretically is low, but you never know if a team with a left back injury crisis might drop a few million out of nowhere.

Summary

Braga gone (5-10 million, closer to 5)
Kyzi (sell next season)
Milne (stays)

You'd hold on to three of your best players if you wanted to get through the qualifers.

Us getting to the league phase of Europe, being competitive and selling players is the way we improve. We may well fall back to third next season but with a better cup run and European games we can sign better players and we've still got boys like Kerjota, Mags and Ageu to become more seasoned players after this season.

I see no reason to be pessimistic for us in the future, Celtic have re signed Scales and Forrest, they're still going to be gettable and Rangers are fucked regardless of the money they waste. We're going nowhere.

Will we be good enough to beat the other teams outside the OF 2/3 times and draw the other one? I think we will and that needs to be the aim. With Del we are more comfortable against the stronger sides in the league so maybe the OF games take care of themselves.

Our challenge will be being good enough to break down a St Johnstone or Killie that sit in and dare you to break them down.

We have to keep the squad relatively large but improve the quality as hopefully we will be battling on two fronts until Christmas at least. I think we can do it.
