A science fiction movie without politics? I don't understand how that is possible. Gave it a miss because of that.

It's more difficult not to explore the human condition and how humanity organises itself in a deep and meaningful way when making sci-fi. I assume it's space cowboys then?

Or should I give it another look? I already got the ending half spoiled with those who had watched it, who were also bragging that the ending was normative and not complex (woke, for them). Again, it's probably more difficult to make a nice neat ending in a sci-fi film rather than shades of grey.

Anyway, I really wanted to see it and this rhetoric I came across online put me right off.

It’s a load of fluff but enjoyable. Was expecting it to have some sort of message about us blowing each other up and that but there wasn’t anything like that.

Heard the book is meant to be good but I’ve not read it.

Went to see it last night & it could have done with having about 45 minutes stripped off it's run time. Wasn't arsed about it at all.

(Thought it was fine but don't really get the hype)

Ryan Gosling and a rock for an intelligent alien.
It's a big pass for me.

Thanks for the review, I don' think I'll go and see it after all. Sounds like a load of fluff and probably needs 45 minutes stripped off it's run time. It's a big pass for me.

Purple Noon

Alain Delon doing Tom Ripley but from 1960. Better than the Matt Damon version, and that's a good movie anyways.

Saw something on X that I’ve tested and it works but can’t find the original post

If you go on IMDB and find a film if you add ‘play’ to the URL before IMDB then it takes you to a site to watch the movie. Tried it on 3 different films including Project Hail Mary as its recent and worked for all 3

Obsession. A love story based on Tel's relationship with Stephen Robinson.

One of the best horrors I've seen recently. Really should be a cheesy shite teen horror but it's just made really well with some top performances from the leads and cos of them it manages to sell the madness perfectly. Another good one that's made by a youtuber following up from Iron Lung (which wasn't that great tbf) and Talk To Me/Bring Her Back. Backrooms coming up too.

Watched Lee Cronin's The Mummy last night and it was stinking. The Exorcist with bandages.

Gave the hooky firestick a rest yesterday and went to see Backrooms.

Enjoyed the teenage neds next to me shouting "whit?!" at the ending.

How was it for a 12yr old? My laddie wants to see it, I’m easy with horror/scary stuff we’ve watched Welcome to Derry etc but not wanting him to see proper graphic shit

If he's not up to speed with the lore then get him on YouTube to watch the original run of shorts from Kane Pixels. It's more a sci-fi/thriller than straight up horror. Bits of it are tense as fuck but there's no one popping out of nowhere with a hammer or welding a chainsaw.

I felt like it was made by a 12 year old tbh. Wasn't impressed. But I'd never seen the web series stuff so maybe there was bits I didn't appreciate. There's nothing really graphic though.
