Yep: obviously an intellectual giant and a great contributor to US legal history, but also a cunt. There'll be a lot of people who will struggle to understand that these views of Scalia are not mutually exclusive.

He might try, but it's highly likely that the GOP will block any nomination from him. Think there's been a tweet from a spokesperson on the Senate Justice Committee which implies that any Obama nomination will be blocked.
Sri Srinivasan has been the name banded about as the most likely person Obama would nominate.
