Liverpool are having something done at anfield so they made it happen; otherwise it would've just been down there. Apparently they needed to clear it with the SFA but didn't even give them the courtesy, despite having the scotland captain playing for them. They'll probably punt 10k the sfa's way to keep them sweet.

Just another sign that the SRU are lightyears ahead of our mob.

Think they're trying to organise some international 'exhibition' friendlies there like a lot of the English grounds do at the moment as well.

Guid man.  Sound

However Laugh lets recap ...
- Hearts pre-season game, that's Hearts, not Liverpool, not Napoli, playing each other, it's Hearts
- vs Barcelona, not Raith rovers or Arbroath,
- with some all-time greats of the modern game playing including Lee Wallace,
- at Murrayfield, in Edinburgh, right next door to Tynie, not much farther away from the Diggers, Golden Rule, Caley Sample Room, Dickens, The Wwestfield,
- in the sun
- not to mention Craig Gordon's last game Sob

Hearts fan says to fellow Jambo, "Fancy going?"
"Nahh m8, they cunts don't gie a fuck, probably only trying like 30%.  Fuck that!"
"Aye, you're right.  Missus has been moanin' to me to cut the grass for a bit now"

That Barca game was a decent novelty tbf. Always wanted to see Thierry Henry play in the flesh. Also always wanted to see Juho Makela do something useful in a Hertz jersey. Quite Good

Shows how little I paid attention to non-Scottish/English football at the time though - I remember being amazed at how good Barca's right midfielder was, but didn't know who he was. Fucking Andres Iniesta. Monty Ha Warnock

Was at the Barca game and it was quality to see players like that in the flesh.

Pretending folk should be going to see lower league sides rather than Liverpool Laugh you think all those punters were there to watch a bit of football? They're fucking celebrities they're going to see. Boys they see on the telly and the papers week in week out and are now in their home town. No different to when Clooney was in town and the place was mobbed by amateur paps trying to get a look, or queuing up at the Trainspotting 2 premiere to set their eyes on Ewan McGregor. Fuck that lads, you should be down at your local theatre supporting your local up and coming actors, not clambering to catch a glimpse of Hollywood A-listers.

Was thinking yesterday, I saw Henderson play against us not long after he signed for Liverpool. Liverpool fans didn't like him. Now seven years later, he's a champions league winning captain Laugh

Why are Milner and Henderson always given as examples of non-interesting players on here?

Milner has won everything there is to win as a club player in England and cost Man City about £30m a few years ago, and Henderson has captained Liverpool and England. Both have 50+ caps for England as well, why wouldn't they be big names?

Better than any other players you'll see in Edinburgh this season anyway.

They're still not interesting to watch as footballers or as celebrities.

They aren't exciting players. Good at what they do but instantly forgettable to watch. If it was salah, mane and firminho then aye.

Even then, it's still a training session.

It wasn't just a training session for Napoli btw. They were brilliant. Insigne and Mertens were Pinilla

The same reason no one would give a fuck if they walked past Darren Fletcher in the street.

These players carry the piano so others can play it.

They would have been the reason I'd have went to the game, when are we getting the chance to see the 2nd best team in Italy strut their stuff up here? Napoli aren't going to play Hearts or Hibs any time soon.

I get both sides of the argument but it's not something that's ever bothered me but then I've never had that big an issue with folk having other teams from other countries as 2nd or 3rd teams either. As long as they support their local team here and if they go to games and put money into them then what difference does it make if they support another team when Hearts or whoever aren't playing? Let folk have a bit of joy in their football supporting lives :Laugh

It is a great analogy. It's exactly the same thing. You think 67,000 people went to the game for the football? Zlat They went to see Liverpool, the club, and its players. They wanted involved in the celebrity of it. Probably thought they'd see Salah and that but they never and they'll be coming away not worried about the football but gutted they never saw him. I'm sure there's thousands of grainy photos of red shirts all over Scottish social media today.
