City of God - not watched it in about 10 years. Still as good as I remember. Brutal at times and the acting is unbelievable, particularly as a lot of them were amateurs. Brilliant ending.

Late to the party but Anna Kendrick is superb.

Saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last night - 7/10 - really enjoyed it, probably better than the last one. The special fx are amazing.

Also watched Hall Pass - 4/10 - some occasional funny bits and the Australian bird in it was pinilla-tastic but overall it was pretty awful.

Kendrick is tremendous. One of those where you realise how tidy she is when she's more dressed down in interviews etc.*

* By that what I really mean is those fancy dress fappening pictures

I watched Million Dollar Baby last night, never seen it before but obviously knew the ending etc. Don't think I was quite equipped for being put through the wringer like that though Laugh

Clint Eastwood can certainly put a movie together.

World War Z - 6/10 - Wasn't as bad as some had told me it would be, still pretty average.

Oblivion - 3/10 - Boring

Capote - 8/10 - Great story and really well made. Had no idea about the Harper Lee connection.

The problem with World War Z is the waste of really good source material, the film is just an average zombie flick but it could have been great if they`d used more than just the title of the book.

Not read the book but I've seen other people say that, so fair enough. I thought the overall story was alright but the characters and some of the dialogue was too weak and cheesy. One bit that particularly bothered me is as Brad Pitt is walking through the command ship there's a wee bit where a guy says "What do you mean Boston has fallen!?!?". It's like they tried to force it to cover a lot of the world and drop these places in little soundbites, when the film simply wasn't long enough to do that justice.

For me zombie films are always about how the outbreak starts, and setting the scene is really important. That's why IMO 28 days later, with the animal rights activists that become the first infected, is by far my favourite.
