Probably Manhattan for me. It was quite a mental feeling coming out of the subway on to Times Square. It is strange constantly being towered over by skyscrapers. Such a difference from edinburgh.

I'm jealous. Would love to go there. Have romanticised the fuck out of it just by watching so much american telly.
Tallinn for me. Gorgeous wee city, with some of the nicest women on the planet.

Cuba. The sweltering Caribbean weather, beaches and warm clear blue water. Spent most of the two weeks in the sea
. Took an internal flight to Havana for the day and took a guided tour around the city, it was outstanding, their history and architecture etc is fascinating.

Manhattan is fantastic, absolutely loved it there. Could go back every year and never do the same thing twice.
It's probably skewed because I was on honeymoon (and got to stay in some excellent hotels) but I really enjoyed Thailand.

It's amazing man, get yourself there ASAP. everything you'd imagine it to be. So much to do. If the relaxed the laws about who can live there, I'd drop everything and move tomorrow.

Never been to Thailand, hope to do it soon although every man and their dug go these days. Cuba sounds immense.
If you like a bit of clubbing and getting melted, not many better places in the world than Berlin. Very unique place.

I love Barcelona. I felt instantly at home there and would happily move and set up home there. Lived in the Alps and it's also pretty incredible but there is a sadness that comes with how seasonal it is, people are always moving on.
Probably Siem Reap in Cambodia though it has apparently changed massively since I was there in 2009. We stayed with a mate of mine who had a bar there so it was a different kind of experience with a 'local.' There was a sense of liberty to riding around on motos, bags of thai stick, we took a beat up, fucked up jeep up to the militarised zone to this deserted hilltop temple, this cambodian soldier showed us around the temple, which had soldiers and anti aircraft guns dug into the hillside. It was incredible as we watched the sunrise over the disputed border with thailand, then checked out the thai soldiers through binoculars. A totally surreal experience and one that could never be repeated. The border dispute has calmed down, the village we stayed in - no electricity at night, in the middle of the jungle, in this military zone - has now been demolished, the mud roads we took were all tarmacked by the Chinese in the months after we left. It feels pretty special to have experienced something like that, because it was just one moment in time before everything changed and developed.

Norway for me.
Went there last year and toured round a bit. The country is absolutely gorgeous from scenery to architecture. People are very friendly, relaxed and always seemed happy and cheery. While its quite expensive (though relative if you live there), the country is spotless and its obvious they've invested their tax money in the right places. I had an amazing time over there. If I spoke Norwegian, I would seriously consider moving over.

Jamaica. Stayed in Montego Bay so too far to visit Kingston but did go up to the mountains to see the Rasta's and visit Bob Marley's grave and birthplace. Climbed Dunn's River Falls too. Everybody wants to sell you something but fairly chilled out when you say your not interested.
Really want to go to New York, never got the chance before we had the kids and would rather wait until they're older before we leave them home alone to go.

Cape Town. Been twice. New York is most people's favourite, and it is great. Prefer a more laid back place.

Couple of days in Bangkok then over to Samui for a few weeks of relaxing. Rented a scooter and just rumbled around the island. We stayed way up in one of the corners of the island, totally away from anything. ETA: Stayed here: http://www.sixsenses.com/resorts/samui/a...and-suites Just checked the rates and I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon

Manhattan and Berlin as already mentioned are class. Loved Munich as well, such a different vibe from Berlin but the beer halls were a fantastic experience.
Dubrovnik is also an amazing place to see, especially in the height of summer when its roasting and you can wander around the old walls.

I wasn't a big fan of Munich.
The beer halls are amazing but it feels like a very reserved place compared to Berlin. What a place Germany is though.

I live an hour from Melbourne and love it every time I go there. It's just a fantastic city. Great for nightlife, sport, food and just chilling out with a beer in the sun down by the Yarra.
I really liked Singapore when I was there a few years ago as well. Unbelievably clean place and had a nice buzz about it.

Been wanting to go out to America for years but Rome would be the best for me. The atmosphere, the food, the drink, the ice cream
Just a great place. Couldn't recommend it enough for people that have never been.

Yeah, Berlin.

Tokyo or North Stradbroke Island off the Queensland coast.
Also an honourable mention to the north coast of Scotland - Durness/Cape Wrath are pretty spectacular. |
