Not every holiday is about getting pished every night mate. Aye if you're in Benidorm for 2 weeks, but not if you're in Rome. Met a couple of friends in Amsterdam though for the 2 days I was there

About 50% of people staying in hostels are travelling solo so they tend to be social places. I've met some good friends through random weekends in random places.

That's not what i meant mate, I'd imagine if you're in another country you'd like to sample the nightlife a bit, go for a meal, go for a drink, hit a few clubs etc, would be quite shite on your own imo.

I've went on holiday on my own a few times. Prefer it to having to spend longer than 24hours with my mates. By holiday I mean weekends in Europe and travelling round Cambodia. I couldn't go on a beach holiday or anything on my own, that'd be a bit weird but I enjoy staying in hostels about the continent and meeting new people.

Staying in hostels on your own can be quite good fun to be fair Has to be full on 'travelling' a day or two in a city though, you couldn't do a longer holiday than that.

The deal with using a phone to waste time on the internet, and this runs to all social situations, is that it's only acceptable if you'd also be comfortable pulling out a paper and doing the crossword. If it doesn't meet that criteria, don't do it. Clearly having a pint is a prime time for that.

Aye you are right. As Pete mentions above, there are always other people in the same position. But it can be an good on your own. Not really interested in clubs, not into clubs at home. Feel too old for that kind of thing. Dont enjoy it anyway

On my one and only couples holiday I went on, the lassies were all swapping facebooks on the last day. Completely baffled me because they were all generally arseholes and all from hovels like Airdrie and Motherwell. Bird at the time agreed they were all cunts but still got involved

Sure we've discussed this before, but having a pint on your own?  Meeting got cancelled so I had an hours wait on my mate, decided to just head to 99 and have one on my own rather than go home and come back.

Suppose it doesn't really count when someone is coming to meet you but I still feel a bit awkward.

I've said this many times on here but I'm quite partial to a wee solo pint.
