This demanding he publicly apologises is a bit much anaw and completely misses the point the film tries to put across, in fact I’m sure there’s an exact scene where his ma explicitly tells him not to apologise. I’m sure he will have spoke to the 2 guys and might even make some sort of statement but beyond speaking to the presenters themselves I’m not sure he really is obliged to apologise for his condition.

I can’t think of many other disabilities where they’d have to apologise for being disabled.

It’s shit it happened but it’s even more shit he has to deal with this every single day. I’m sure the presenters were caught off guard but im not sure they’ll act anything like the terminally online freaks who will have forgotten about this by next week.

Is it not a feature of Tourettes that the things you shout out are pretty consistently the worst things you could say? Always at least swear words etc and not just shouting random words (you never hear about people with Tourettes sitting there like 'lawnmower', 'teapot', 'stegosaurus' - it's always things that aren't socially acceptable). In a high stress situation his brain has gone to the worst thing he could possibly say (and a word we 100% all know). Just really ignorant to see that as proof of racism.

Yeah it's pretty much a running theme of the film that he spends his life apologising and the people around him who actually care tell him he has no need to. The folk giving it the 'people demand an apology' are the most clueless.

Not to go off on a tangent and it’s not really my place to put an opinion over but I’ve also seen lots of discourse where black Americans basically tell black British they are wrong in the way they experience racism

British black community will say things that happen in America don’t really translate to over here and they are told they are flat out wrong - it’s a bit of a mad one to wrap your head round but it just comes from that impossible task of getting Americans to take their head out their arse and accept things in the world aren’t always the same as in the states.

You’ve got people asking why Davidson didn’t shout any anti Mexican slurs etc and just the n word. Why would anti Mexican slurs be in a Scottish vocabulary - I don’t watch that much American TV so fuck knows what a slur for Mexicans would even be Was there even any Mexicans at the BAFTAs because if they were presenting an award there’s every chance they could’ve got something shouted out at that moment

I think people with tourettes will shout out the most obvious thing about a person. Whether its fat, ginger, bald or whatever. When we were younger he came to our youth club and was shouting "ears ears play you at pool" to a guy with big lugs.
