I need some advice/direction ...

Currently I have various music on my computer (Itunes on the iMac) and play it through the original speakers, etc. It's okay but I've been meaning for years to upgrade a bit . Nothing flashy.

Anyway, I'd like to have a dedicated home-based Digital Audio Player, one which I can transfer to, all the songs from my computer, as well as convert the cds I have (with it perhaps) and onto this DAP.

Would I then need a digital to analogue converter or is that what the DAP? I guess I'd have to put the DAP through an amplifier or would the DAP play directly through to the speakers?

I've decided to go with studio monitors (maybe the Rockit 8s) or the ELAC Uni-Fi UB5s.

I'm not ready to drop good money on a system yet; maybe in a couple of years or so.

I know there are a good few knowledgeable folks on here when it comes to this subject so I'd appreciate some help.
