My doctors is changing the way you get an appointment in march. From then you phone up and tell the receptionist what's up with you, if the doctor deems you worthy of an appointment they bell you back with a time : must be to do with the cuts to the NHS, shame they are forced in to such measures but hopefully it spells the end of all the spastics that go whenever they get a cold or a sore tummy.

Tricky one ... go faster and risk wiping out over that type of ice or go slower and give it gas if need be but VKs don't quite have the acceleration that the more modern snowmobiles have, and he was unlucky in that when he did it tilted to one side as he gave it the throttle, with the ice on the far end still giving way. VKs are generally difficult to tip too as quite wide. Lucky boy he wasn't the first to cross or else would have struggled to get out of that.  At that time of the year I always carry a screwdriver in my top outside pocket, just in case!  Fortunately we don't encounter that type of ice very often; occasionally in the fall during freeze-up.

Sore thumb! That's what I'd be doing, johnny; take my chances.  The boy will be raging he lost his machine that way irrespective.  About 10 miles outside of town in Dec there (it should be frozen fine by then) a young lad (16/17maybe) lost his grandfather's brand new 1200 four-stroke Yamaha - probably cost him near 20K all-in.  Got stuck initially (they're very heavy) and then it just slowly dropped through the ice.  Was likely bought by a combined family effort as the grandfather (still an active FT hunter) isn't well-off.  Poor sod.  Must have felt like shit, although of course it'll all have been a brave face and all, at least you're alive son.

Last Sunday I happened upon three original arcade games; games I spent my youth playing down the Porty-musies, whenever I had any spare change.  Defender and Asteroids (nearly messed my pants over these) and Galaxians.  Quarter each.  Had I been by myself I reckon I'd have spent a good few dollars.

Good man; no need to pop into the hangover thread then, which come to think of it hasn't made an appearance of late. I'm beginning to think the THF has gone all soft.

Can't imagine it's possible to watch that movie unless you're bladdered or baked.

I'm two weeks through a three week holiday and I haven't touched a drop. There were a couple of bars I walked past on Mission Street (SF) that looked rather interesting, although I'm no sure how wise that would have been - a Gringo walking into Mexican Bandit country! Holidays are for edgy occasion though.

Meant to post NRA Skills ... Plenty of shooting obviously, including the 3-point competition, which is basically a re-enactment of the JFK assassination, except in this case it's the black players getting ready for the current chap. Missed the dunk contest as I was called away for my tea.

Nahh, you're right it wasn't particularly exciting; highlight was probably the all-star cheerleaders at the beginning wearing their finest tight shorts.

The actual all-star game tomorrow is probably worth a watch , at least for the first quarter anyway, where these freaks show -off. Some of the passing is outrageous. It'll then settle down as the shite-ier players get a shot and then in the second half they'll take it a bit more seriously.

Never knew they actually had cheerleader all stars I always thought they just used the cheerleaders from the team hosting the game. They must just literally pick them based on how nice their arses are, eh?

I usually watch the all star game tbf. It's a massive waste of everyone's time, but pretty good fun watching ridiculous 3s. Last year or the year before, can't remember which, the rising stars challenge degenerated into a shambles as one of the coaches took it too seriously and made his team properly defend
