Impressive stuff. Some job. Imagine that on a Monday morning with a brutal hangover.

What's the best method to get rid of a cold? Opening it up to the medical expertise of the THF.
Basically felt like shite all weekend and it's been bubbling away before finally unleashing itself this morning. Not a full on cold like a runny nose and stuff, just general feeling shite, worn down and stomach making all sorts of weird and wonderful jumping motions. Can't stomach any scran just now either. Wanted to rest up at the weekend but had too many nonsense social obligations to attend ![]() Done the usual - tanned some paracetamol. Keeping myself as warm as possible (often I try and sweat these things out). Any other remedies the fam can recommend? Basically trying to make myself fit for tomorrow's festivities

Hopefully the occasion tomorrow makes you forget about it. The cold is shite, can't believe we don't have a cure by now.

Nah you just let nature take it's course, tan the ibuprofen obviously, it might be more than a cold though, I had glandular fever a few year ago, wasn't the best tbf.

The cold is just a collective name for any viral upper respiratory tract infection. You can't cure it as it's not one single thing. A bit like cancer.

The majority of cancers are curable. I've yet to be offered a cure for a cold.

True. Cancer is a common occurrence in the human body as it is. It's just our immune system usually deals with it. Watched a good talk recently by some bloke around "early detection" of cancers and how it's just not possible. Will try and find a link.

Sure, we can get rid of a lot of them but we haven't been doing so for long enough to know whether they won't start coming back in 15-20 years' time. But if you get rid of something for 20 years can you say you have cured it? I guess so, it is complicated though. As for HTG – get some vitamin c. I always tan lots of Tropicana and berocca when I am feeling shit. Lots of water as well, obvs, and if you can't stomach any food drink chicken stock.

Doctor's orders for a cold is paracetamol 4 times a day and lots of fluid. Stay in doors, don't go to work, don't infect other folk. Can take 7-10 days to clear.

Thanks chaps, pozzies to those for providing their remedies/suggestions
![]() I'd have stayed off work today but had to come in for some nonsense business update (zzzz.....). Bunking off now so planning to get home and get doped up to my eyeballs, crank up the heating and sweat this bastard out.

Staying off work with a cold

Well I have about 10 more days and I'll be cured.
My advice would be when you get home get blootered and head out for a long run; about 10 miles should do it. You won't feel the physical pain of the run coz obviously you'll be gassed. Once your hangover passes the pain from your run, most likely groin strains and some cramps will kick in and lo & behold you won't know you've a cold. Good luck mate.

Fresh lime and lemon squeezed in to hot water with some slices of orange.
![]() Cold and flu tablets are heavy on the caffeine that's why they perk you up. I find that if I take too many I end up with the shits. (Could be the additional vitamin c as well)
