The contrast between the optimism at the heart of this scene in trainspotting, and the depressed looking old boy, sitting in the cold, in a high viz and a hard hat, pretending to drum along on upside down tin cans, while battery operated cats dance along, is quite something. But then, thinking about it, it's quite apt.

When I commuted from Leith to the South Side of Glasgow every day, a Zinger Tower was a lifesaver if I was in work til late for a parents evening or event. Sometimes went all out and had the box meal with the corn, hot wings etc. Fucking disgraceful amounts of food
I had one when I was about 7 and I thought it was minging, then again when I was about 16, again thought it was shite so chances are unless it's sensational circumstances I'll never have one again.

I can't remember having a KFC since a week researching in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2003. When I was stupid enough to book into a Day's Inn on a bloody highway, and was therefore miles from the nearest bus stop, and surrounded by a choice of Subway, Pizza Hut or KFC. For a week.
And - no word of a lie - four chicken pieces cost less than three.

Why is this surprising
A sandwich, a packet of crisps and a juice costs less than a sandwich.
