I don't think either player is worth that kind of money but the transfer fees have been insane for a while now. Grealish is a class player, I really rate him. Not £100m obviously.

I think he's a decent player, but not at the level of a Mahrez. Don't know exactly where he fits in at City, probably battling it out with Foden for a game.

No, English players in the premier league typically command inflated values compared to European players in other leagues.
Edit - but also yes

I reckon City will be having quite a big revamp. Guys like Sterling will be off.
06-25-2021, 11:14 AM
He is quality tbf but I'm not sure City is the most obvious move. Does that suggest Sterling is on his way out? Or will Sterling start to play as an actual centre forward?

You're just extremely keen to denigrate all English players. Grealish is a good player, probably one of the best in his position in the league. Someone mentioned Mahrez, he's 30 now, Grealish is at a great age and I think Pep would help him develop further. He's not worth £100m but Man City have that kind of money to spend so fuck it.

So you agree he's not worth 100m and English players typically being overvalued but you have a problem with me saying he's not worth 100m and English players being overvalued?
![]() What other English players have I “denigrated†apart from recently saying I think the English team have been shite in the euros? I didn't say their players are shite, I think they've got a good squad. Also if you did have an idea of what I actually think then you'd know my favourite player of all time is England's bravest lion Jacky Wilshere

Grealish reminds me a wee bit of Wilshere tbh, I can see his career going the same way if I'm totally honest.

There was chat about Sterling going back to Liverpool because he had a new agent.
06-25-2021, 11:31 AM
If Grealish plays every week for City he'll get 20 goals and the same again in assists, it's a great signing for me (obviously not factoring in Pep's selections and him randomly spending weeks out the team).
The fee is pretty arbitrary given who the owners are tbh, it's just about them agreeing on a number that excites the City fans about the investment and placates the Villa fans for losing their best player so both owners come out of it looking good.

I can't see him going back to Liverpool he's despised there now is he not? Also on your post about fee agree that when you've got a bottomless pit of money it doesn't really matter but does it not fuck their chances of getting Kane now? If you sign grealish for 100m you're not going to get Kane for 100 as well.

That would be a bad move for Liverpool. fans would be on him and I think he's had his best seasons. he would flop there imo.

You have to factor in that he's basically never had a good player for a teammate other than McGinn.

Grealish is a quality player, but he'll be on rotation with Sterling, Mahrez, Silva, Foden, etc. From their current squad, only Ederson, Dias and KDB will (injury pending) start more than 75% of their games.
