As I said, I barely seen anyone comment on it on social media. I said I had hardly been reading the news so hadn't really seen anything about it until last night.

Nobody died at all. So yes, as is normal, it's had less coverage. It's nothing to do with us becoming 'used' to it or any such nonsense.

It's not nonsense at all.

The overall feeling after these things seems to not be shock anymore but more of "not again". Maybe it doesn't come across like that on Twitter where you get all your opinions from from, but in real life that is very much the way people are feeling surrounding these things now from people I know.

Fair point about the news today but it's still generally been rather quitely reported compared to previous attacks.

I suppose in these days of constant news and instant online gratification people find it quite boring. 

These Jihadis need to up their game ffs.

It is clear from what you quoted that CC said 200-300m Muslims would do a wee fist pump if he was killed. He never, ever said that all Muslims would. Thinking he did is seeing something that just isn't there.

And on the "some of his friends are Muslims" thing - I agree with him that spending 6 weeks in a Muslim country would be an extremely strange thing to do if he were racist. Albeit, if/as he's not a racist:

1. He needs to look at the language he uses and the casual stereotypes he employs all the time

2. He needs to appreciate what nuance is. Mak's post some pages back was the best on this thread, because it set out why the terms of this whole discussion have been nonsensical. And CC's been most responsible for that.

Morph: imagine if, perish the thought, there was another 7/7 in London, and 50 people, say, were killed. If you think that wouldn't lead the news 24/7 for at least a week afterwards, you're off your rocker.

There is nothing that excites the news media anything more than terrorism; and the way they cover it is, almost always, disgraceful. I see zero sign that that's changed or ever will. Ratings innit.
