I'm not talking about how the media report it, I'm talking about how people react to it. That's why I have spoken solely about social media.

There's just an apparent lack of shock factor when these things happen now. The same thing happened in England with the IRA though. Eventually you start to accept this is part of the modern world and is something we just need to get on and deal with. They're not really doing anything new, it's the same stuff repeated all over Europe.

Not to be a dick about this, but I have no idea what you're saying here.
My point was that you can't separate 'how people react' from 'how the media cover it', because people's reactions are influenced by what they see in the media. Beyond that I basically agree that we're becoming gradually desensitised to these attacks. I get that this has been reported less because there were no casualties, but if there'd been a failed IED on the London tube in 2014 it'd definitely have received more coverage than this. And elicited more reaction. Both feed into each other.

Literally the point I made was I hadn't been following the actual news, but I hadn't seen anything about it on social media and one of the reasons was I thought people are becoming desensitised to terrorist attacks.
I have no idea how BBC/Sky/Guardian whoever have reported this specific incident because as I said I haven't been following it at all since I've been away.

PEOPLE ARE REACTING LESS ON SOCIAL MEDIA BECAUSE THERE IS LESS IN THE NEWS

I'm pretty sure Mak is telling you it's being reported less in those outlets you mentioned. Less articles means less things to share on social media. That's why you're not seeing it.

Mak usually does that capital letter thing to take the piss, but this time he was just trying to point out what he was saying to you.

The previous record was 141 days or something. It's an outrageous achievement

Na, amazing achievement.

Saw AP had posted and thought it'd be along the lines of:
" might give that a go actually - anywhere in Edinburgh that does round the world in 44 days cycling?"
