Sadly a pretty regular occurrence, helicopters/boats out, Police looking for someone urgently within a few hours, then nothing else heard (they tend to not publicize the suicides off the bridges) and a body found a few weeks later. Hopefully he's had second thoughts and just taken time out and will show up.

The police statements are normally just so they can definitively track they jumped so they don't focus resources on anything other than body hunt.
