Other injuries included one officer being knocked unconscious, as well as some suffering head and serious facial injuries. Three police dogs were also hurt, with two having bricks thrown at them. 

Those involved threw bricks at the mosque, set fire to cars and wheelie bins and caused damage to a local convenience store, police said.

Yep. Sad reality of society today is you’ve got one group desperate for him to be an immigrant (even better if he’s an asylum seeker), and another group desperate for him to be a white Brit. A result for both groups that he’s 17 so his identity won’t formally be released and they can both just decide that they were right.

Dunno if what has happened is a result for both groups though. The majority of the people who want him to be a white Brit aren’t people who are delighted so they can vilify British people and make them out to be violent, uncultured wronguns. It’s not a desperation for them to be white brits it’s not wanting them to be (mainly) Muslim because look at what happens when people get a whiff that it is.

We’re in a position just now where Jewish people are scared to go out because of what’s happening with Palestinian protests etc but absolutely none of those concerns seem to be afforded to ordinary Muslims when stuff like this happens.

I have absolutely nae problems admitting I hoped the guy wasn’t a Muslim because the backlash to Muslims all over the country is severe and as Scott said there is going to be a train wreck when an attack happens again and it is a Muslim. If the attacker was white British then I doubt any of us would be getting that sort of abuse or getting folk rocking up to places we attend to riot and abuse us but with groups like Muslims feel like people expect them to shoulder the blame far and wide as a community.
