On all sides. We are at the mercy of people who are not Internet literate enough to filter lies.

I liked the Internet when it was only for virgins and counterstrike on dial up.

Look at kickback now - that's what happens when the proletariat learn to use the Internet.

They should fuck off back to the time of word processing,  encarta 98 and netscape navigator. They aren't cut out for sophisticated social media and viral marketing attempts.

Indeed. As I've said before, kickback is now a male equivalent of the Facebook full time mummy scum.

Maybe it turns out you can't just say whatever the fuck pops into your head half-remembered from Fox the night before as President without it being picked up on Jezza

Or maybe you can. Just call it FAKE NEWS! SAD! and otherwise intelligent folk will start believing you after a while.

The other post I quoted mentioned the "terrorist attack". You just said he misheard something but I don't think he did? Have you seen the segment? His sentence was clumsy but how the media have turned it into him claiming there was a terrorist attack in Sweden on Friday is pretty bizarre. Plenty to beat him with without making shit up.

He said 'you look at what's happening last night in Sweden'.

That to me (and most others) sounds like he's referring to a specific incident. The white house then comes out and says he's referring to generally rising crime and not a specific incident. In that report he is allegedly referring to, they said “Sweden had its first terrorist Islamic attack not that long ago, so they're now getting a taste of what we've been seeing across Europe already,” Crime in Sweden has stayed pretty much the same over the past decade, they had one suicide bombing in 2010.

Sounds like fake news to me.

Trump references a Fox segment he watched the night before about the difficulties Sweden are having with their immigrants. Media decide he said there was a terrorist attack in Sweden on Friday. Internet forum plebs say he said there was a terrorist attack in Sweden on Friday.

He's sitting watching a fox news report and then talking about 'sweden's problems' in a press conference. Crowe

Usually there are things like embassy cables, diplomatic reports, hell even the US State Dept reports which will help a president know if a country is 'having difficulties', not a fucking fox news report.

Nah, not having that. How can you, with a straight face, say that "you look at what's happening last night in Sweden" is easily translatable as "there was a terrorist attack last night in sweden" but guffaw away to yourself to imagine that what he meant was "you look at what's happening in Sweden (last night on the tv) in Sweden". Embarrassing how quickly you are to confirm your own biases.

Here's the segment:

It's a Fox news segment detailing the increase in crime since the 2011 migrant crisis. It's hardly a stretch for him to see that, think holy shit it's even in sweden, then stand in front of a crowd and say holy shit, it's even happening in sweden, can you believe that?

Here's another clip from Sweden, reporters being attacked by migrants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A76DLK20L4o

I mean you're probably right, but how important is Sweden's situation to the US intelligence? And if it's that important that they're documenting it, is it important enough to bother the president with? He saw something on the news that surprised him, and he mentioned it in a speech regarding migrant issues across the globe. Sweden is like a wee fairytale land to Americans, it's not somewhere anyone would imagine crime is a major issue, so the president felt it was a decent measuring stick to explain the global problem to his people. Really no issue here other than the media getting their knickers in a twist trying to spin it to look like he referred to a terrorist attack when he didn't even mention terrorism or attacks.

Fuck sake man. If that was Obama you'd all be tugging your willy's that he's a man of the people, HE JUST WATCHES WHAT WE WATCH, IT'S BEAUTIFUL.

He's just referencing a news segment he thought others would have watched. The only controversy is how the media spun it to seem he was making up terrorist attacks, and you plebs lapping it up with absolutely no basis.

The stories than man is telling on Fox News have no sources or facts. There is a piece in the Guardian contradicting his tales with facts. That is fake news and damaging for the President to use on a world wide platform. Forget whatever you are slavering about Obama, this is about Trump and his shite.

It is hardly surprising people felt he was making up another terrorist attack after the infamous bowling green massacre. It even led Sweden's foreign ministry and former PM to comment.

"According to the 2016 Swedish Crime Survey, crime rates in Sweden have stayed relatively stable over the last decade, with some fluctuations. In 2015, there were 112 cases of lethal violence in Sweden, an increase of 25 cases compared with 2014, but assaults, threats, sexual offences, car theft, burglary and harassment all reduced compared to the previous year – as did anxiety about crime in society."

He'd be better checking the facts himself than listening to the laughable Fox News.

FYI I'm not defending the veracity of the segment. Just that that's what he was referring to, not a made up terrorist attack folk are desperate for him to have been talking about.

Literally every article attacking him on this are taking the stance that he mentioned a specific terrorist attack in sweden the night prior. They've even truncated his quote to miss out "'They took in large numbers. They're having problems like they never thought possible." Which is exactly what he meant with his previous sentence. Why would he say that if he meant a terror attack the night before? He'd surely mention that specifically?

If you want to attack him for using a Fox news segment in a speech to his followers then by all means, go for it. But don't be disingenuous by claiming he was referring to a terror attack when there's no basis for that. If you hadn't read the media's interpretation there's no way you'd listen to that speech and think he just claimed sweden was attacked the night before. Why would be follow up with the generic "They took in large numbers. They're having problems like they never thought possible." if he meant a specific attack.

As I said, plenty things to beat Trump with without resorting to making shit up. Making stuff up about Trump is definitely something that's not necessary, there's so much more to go on.

Yeah, sorry my post was just in response to watching the vid, I've totally missed this Trump/Sweden thing so don't have an opinion on it. I filter most Trump-related shite recently as it's depressing/boring.

If I was going to pass comment I would say that it reads like Trump is not being briefed by his staff/speaking off the cuff. But that's exactly why people voted for him, so it's not overly surprising that he's not being briefed heavily by Whitehouse politicos. Still an extremely retarded way to run a presidency though.

I definitely would have as his administration already has previous for making up a terrorist attack. 'you look at what's happening last night in Sweden' Yes that is so obvious he is talking about a Fox Report that barely anyone watching would have seen. Can't believe I missed that. Woy

Aside from that comment though, the piece he is referring to is fake news so even if that's what he meant it is still laughable.

Agreed. Even if you're being generous, it's still incredibly poor and irresponsible phrasing from Trump (shock).
