He's getting torn apart for it online, it looks like him and even Dana White has addressed it so I think it probably is real.

All apparently because the old boy refused a free drink of his whisky.

Genuinely wouldn't be surprised if everything he's been doing lately is a stage managed rise and fall and rise again story, but assuming any of this is real what seems to have happened is that he tried his man of the people (when the cameras are on) shtick by offering to buy everyone a whisky (his whisky), the old guy wasn't having it, and McGregor lost his temper. Called it from day one - he's a balloon.

I think it all is real tbh. Maybe some of the khabib stuff was staged/encouraged but he is just a run of the mill rich wanker who is hard and full of himself.

Even if it was staged by his team or whatever I'm no sure you get to be blatantly racist and that towards people who aren't in on it just to build your character. The UFC doesn't need McGregor to succeed now so I dunno why you'd invite the controversy after that.

I agree with you, man - think I've been quite consistent in my dislike of McGregor on here tbf Heh All I meant was that the whole thing feels so WWE now that it wouldn't surprise me if parts turn out to be staged either.

Back on Team McGregor. Fuck it jjay

All joking aside, this is a fascinating interview. He's not that nice a guy (cage fighter) but it's good to see him being honest about how money changes you and how his relationship with John Kavanagh has broke down. I was surprised he's acknowledged that tbh. That sort of money would change anyone, it's easy to sit here and say it wouldn't. You can only imagine how much he's baited every day as well. We don't experience that in Edinburgh as there's no sporting superstars kicking about Edinburgh like Dublin. There's no excuse for the things he has done but we have to acknowledge it's a different thing for him.

Sporting wise, he is nowhere near Khabib but he should get on the back of the Diaz rise and do the trilogy there and then end it. Think Masivadal, Ferguson or Holloway would all be phenomenal fights. Say what you what about him but he is fucking entertaining. I'll always be thankful for him being the gateway to MMA. I watch it more than football now.

Sorry AP, he's a jakey scumbag who acts like he owns the world. I've sadly had first hand experience of seeing him and his entourage swagger about, and I'm genuinely amazed that we've only seen small glimpses of evidence of his arsehole behaviour hit the MSM recently.

He may well have opened up the sport to more people, but it doesn't give him the divine right to act like a complete cretin 24/7.

Loads of athletes have earned more money than McGregor without getting involved in race baiting, assaulting non-fighters, or playing at being a gangster. Earning money only makes you behave like that if you were a bellend to begin with.

When that Celtic cunt gets his head cracked open like a watermelon again Pinilla

Easy to punch an old boy in the back of the head when he isn't looking. Different story when it's someone your own age that can handle themselves jjay

I had the misfortune of being at Aintree the same year he was there and as my luck would have it he was in the same stand as me. Fat Cunt

I first encountered him and his 'pals' shoving their way to the front of the bar and then throwing money at the bar staff when they dared to serve other people before him.

I then had the joy of heading towards the stairs to my seat when him and his entourage were coming down the stairs taking out everyone in their path.

Not a pleasant sight to see an old boy with sticks making his way towards a lift get his head busted open because McGregor can't be arsed waiting for him to climb the 3 stairs to get there before he comes down.

No need for behaviour like that from anyone, no matter how famous or important you think you are.

It really is. Wrestling is clearly the most important skill in the UFC though.

Give me two strikers any day.

This is why I don't understand why MMA is so popular in comparison with striking sports Heh Everyone who doesn't train the ground game (I include myself in this) would rather just watch the standup.

I get that it's because of how the UFC's been marketed, but it's still weird. If you like watching MMA but not rolling, essentially what you like watching is kickboxing.

Can you follow up a downed opponent in kickboxing? I prefer it to boxing because it's not broken up all the time and not all striking is on the feet. I do also like the grappling for the most part but Khabib holding someone against the cage until he gets his submission is just boring. Wonder how he'd fair in Rizin or similar without a cage to use.

The ground game interests me. I love boxing but what makes MMA better is the best fight the best. This shite with fury, wilder and Joshua just puts me right off boxing and one loss means the guy is done. Nonsense.

The marketing for the UFC is phenomenal as well.

Agree with that. Just two guys fighting regardless of background or discipline and see who comes out on top. Obviously loads train MMA from the start now but you get wrestlers who need to learn strike and vice versa and it's just great watching it pan out.

I would say that it's more of Khabib's opponents that go towards the cage rather than Khabib. It's easier to defend takedowns and to get up from the ground closer to the cage than the centre of the octagon
