I caught the highlights and looked like poirier was well in control, so to sit there on the mat proclaiming he was boxing the heid off him is just full on deluded.

This. There's been very few top level fighters in MMA that have known when the right time to go was, instead they keep fighting on believing it to just be a blip

There's no reason to not clamp down on it though other than it helps sell a fight. Unacceptable to be telling someone you're going to kill them before fighting them imo, should come with very tough penalties.

For me even if he's able to he shouldn't be fighting again on the UFC.

Wilder and Chisora have done it recently as well. These guys are animals but that's the game. They are trying to take each others head off. Calling for him to be banned for life is way OTT.

My take it on it is McGregor knew he was getting leathered and saw this as an opportunity to keep the rivalry going and get another fight as there's no real argument for a 4th one on sporting merit. Interviewing a man with a snapped leg was also ridiculous as his adrenaline and shock would have been through the roof.

Do you not think after saying repeatedly he was going to murder him, then posting a pic of him and his kid with a comment insinuating they were 'goners' or whatever is enough to be banned from the sport or at the very least for a long time? There's hyping a fight and creating a rivalry then there's that.

I don't think it's any different in boxing either, these guys shouldn't be able to say these things.   If a football player interviewed before and said he was going out to snap a players leg before the game then he would get banned for they comments.  The most important thing is to make sure these guys who risk so much leave the ring safely, i get that it's a hard sport that is dangerous but there needs to be a line drawn somewhere and for me it's saying you're going to murder your opponent

If he's threatening to kill his family in their sleep then that goes beyond trash talk. I don't really think he should be banned for it because it just makes him look like a fucking idiot, but it's not the same thing as trash talk before the fight (and even then 'I'll kill you' is dodgy when fighters have actually died as a result of injuries sustained in the ring/cage).
