Thoughts on this chap?

Some of his Trews videos on youtube are fucking outstanding.

I think it's great to have a guy like that getting the message across to people who may not be engaged with conventional politics.

Just marketing his books.

Really well thought out and bravo to his team for getting him in on the Indy debate, great idea.

I like him.

I don't think he's that great at stand up, but I like him, and tend to agree with him politically.

He has a documentary on soon about drug addiction and how Britain treats this compared to other countries. Clip for it looked good.

All profits from his book are going to building juice bars to employ homeless/mentally ill/folk with addictions.

Didn't he say he'd use the advance he got for the book to set up the juice bar? Not the profits.

The mans a multi-millionaire thanks to the corporate world he protests so much about. Using some big words doesn't hide what he really is.

I like him.

He's really changed from the arsehole who used to host big brother.

Looks like he's doing good things, just because he's rich doesn't mean he can't try and stand up against things he thinks are wrong.

That's where I first saw him - I thought he was great at that - terrible programme that he made very watchable, imo.

What 'message' is he getting across? "Don't bother with conventional politics, they're all arseholes! Look at me, I'm such a big rebel - spreading my revolution from my mansion..."

He attaches himself to anything, literally anything, he sees as 'anti-establishment'. He doesn't think his position through at all. And his advice to young people - don't vote - will let in the most right wing option, the worst possible option for those young people and for the poor.

But that won't have any impact on him at all. None whatsoever. That's why he feels so able to spout such constant shite. And does he have an alternative, an actual, practicable alternative, as opposed to "peace, love, one world man"? Nope.

Correct. Quite happy to spout whatever pish he thinks cretins like AP will lap up whilst sitting on his millions. And it clearly works! Laugh

He's a dissenting voice against the corporate capitalist establishment, and advocates socialism, which is unfashionable.

He advises people not to vote because the system itself is rotten - to vote in a system that is rotten serves only to validate it - who wants to validate a system that is rotten?

Good on him.

Sometimes, you don't need to have a solution, Shaun - the message is both the means and the end. I think if he is engaging intellectual cripples like Partridge in politics that's great, and more than I would expect from him. The message is pure waffle and lacks substance, but that hardly sets him apart from a lot of our high profile political figures.

Some of his articles for the Guardian have been excellent reads, in particular the one about Thatcher's legacy, which was warm, poignant, but also biting, and I loved his Brand X programme for HBO. Don't mind him at all tbh.

I'm gonna bet a penny to a pound of shite that after years and years of parading his British credentials and ridiculing Salmond on JKB, he ended up lapping up Salmond's shite and voting for it at the referendum.

I like the way he winds up FOX News. He has that in his favour. And I would say that he's harmless - but he's not. He's not at all.

Labour, the 'Red Tories', aren't Red Tories at all. They're hopelessly led, but infinitely preferable to as vicious a government modern Britain has ever known. Brand's politics will help the Tories further their agenda. I therefore have the same contempt for him as I did for Michael Moore in 2000. Whenever people say "both parties are just the same", it's always a prelude to the right winning - and things then getting worse. Far worse.

Got a shot on Katy Perry. Whether I can be bothered or not with the political views that he currently holds for attention and cash is irrelevant, he did that.

His message is simply that politics and the media are run purely for the benefit of the big business rather than the people, and it is corrupt in many ways.

He's never urged anyone not to vote. He's made it clear that HE believes there is no point in voting as they all have largely the same ideas and are only serving the interests of big business. He advocates a form of socialism I think where everything is stripped down into communities running themselves rather than electing one eton educated millionaire over the other.

He acknowledges his ideas are flawed, but at the heart of it, what he's doing is very good and is without doubt getting folk involved who otherwise wouldn't be.

And I went to numerous yes rallies, stood outside the Parliament on the night of the referendum with thousands of others and was absolutely gutted (still am) with the result.

Pro tip: I'm not really a lover of Britain and Rangers, that was to wind up numpties like Mothy etc.

Also, don't give me this pish about Labour being the lesser evil. The way they conducted themselves during the referendum debate was a fucking disgrace. I'd be happier with a Tory government. At least they are honest about what they are.
