Clarke was more brave when he was picking Declan Gallagher and o donnell.

That's one thing I'll say about Southgate. He's not been afraid to call up form players, no matter their age/experience. Gilmour could have got a move to Dortmund at the same time as Bellingham and We'd still have called him up for the 21s, while Bellingham was lining up for his senior debut.

Players like McGinn and Robertson need to have a look at themselves too. Meant to be the senior, most experienced outfield players and they've both served up disgraceful performances the last couple of games. No matter Clarkes failings he should be able to rely on players like that imo.

McGinn has missed about 6 sitters in the last three games, including that shocker against Ukraine. And Robertson has yet to beat the first man with a cross.

Don't get me wrong, I know they're tired and the way the domestic season has transitioned into four (could have been five) internationals straight away, is a lot of shite. The radio was saying they two have played about 110 games between them this year

Ireland are a terrible side and had been on a brutal run of form. The answer to Scotland's worries isn't to call up a load of Championship/League One diddies and Tony Watt ffs
