He's been one that's been discussed all the way through the youths. Not bothered about his physical presence if he's good on other ways. Sick of donkeys who are huge but can't pass a ball.

After watching Scotland, i'd just prefer huge guys that know how to defend rather than defenders who can necessarily pass a ball.

As long as they can play a 5 yarder to a Gomis type fellow or chip it down the line, that's fine by me.

Unless he's the next Cannavaro or Puyol (which he isn't, as he's still at Hearts) we should bin the notion of playing a 5'7 laddie at centre half and turn him into a wing back or something.

Everything that's wrong with Scottish football when folk are not wanting to risk a CB in the Scottish championship(where we'll face about 3 shots on goal by opposition most matches)because he's smaller than your usual clogger.

If it's a choice between normal-sized clogger and snack-sized clogger, give me the big lump please. Winning headers is about the most important thing a Scottish centre half has to be able to do, and if the guy really is 5'7 he'll no be winning many of those Eek

He's been away at Cowdenbeath and played against men so I'd have no issue giving him a shot. Think he did quite well.

I do get the concern though as 5'7 is remarkably small for a CB.

Trying to picture what a short-arse centre half would look like. What players have we had that were 5'7/5'8? Hartley was about that wasn't he?

Puyol and cannavaro were both about 5'8/9. Sure he'll be fine.

But he wouldn't still be here if he was the next Cannavaro or Puyol. Unknown quantities don't really exist in football anymore, so us nurturing some unheard of world class talent to suddenly unleash on the league isn't going to happen.

He'll also have had the disadvantage of Levein and his pals being his coaches in his formative years, so anything unorthodox would've been coached right out of him.

Anyway I just saw an EEN article from three years ago and they say he's 5'7 so maybe grown a bit since then.

That's kinda the point I'm making though: to be a short centre half you need to be brilliant, like they were, and if he's still at Hearts at 20, when the likes of Bayern have been sniffing around one of his teammates, he probably isn't that great.

I honestly don't have it in for this guy btw, it's just 5'7 centre halves and El Gato goalies are what you get when kids who are shite at football still get minutes Laugh
