I think he might end up back at us on loan.
We look very light in the centre of the park.

The club then leaked messages about how his dad was getting involved and that Irving was too arrogant. Typical disrespect from hearts to our academy products and I've seen it time and time again. Releasing young squad players instead of letting their potential fully play out, and then immediately going down south to the land of milk and honey to buy jobbers that couldn't kick their own arse. The club disregarded his technical ability becuase he wasn't an 'athlete'. Sums up Scottish football (apart from the fact that our 'athletes' are mediocre too, probably because we don't have an established PED/microdosing regime). Naismith is turning the tide on this, which i respect. Pretty sure Denholm was also officially released by Neilson and Savage until Naismith got involved. It's important to push back on false narratives peddled by the club. Vanacek being overweight and Doig being surplus to requirements because we didn't need a left back being two recent ones alongside the Irving twisting of truth.

At the time I felt Harry Cochrane and Anthony McDonald were better prospects than Andy Irving but he’s shown the right attitude to get where he is, albeit the transfer to WHU seems a bit dubious. Best of luck to him

Irving was a decent prospect in a shite hertz team, I would’ve liked him to stay but it wasn’t to be as the club and pler were too far apart in where they seen him fitting in.
Good for him that he cracked on but don’t think we were the club for him at the time and tbh we were at a point where we needed a big rebuild. Don’t think that was going to happen around Irving. Remains to be seen if he’ll go and do it in a top league, he seemed to do well for himself in Austria. Would be good for Scotland if he continued to improve.

Was Craig Levein not over at the boys house 2 or 3 times trying to get him to sign a new contract?
Fell out with his dad or something.

Irving was clearly a decent footballer but for whatever reason it never felt like it was going to work for him here. Would love him to make a breakthrough in the epl, would be quite a story.
