I'm horrendous at this game. How are you meant to enjoy it as someone who's never played? Just jumped online and got pumped 0-3 twice in a row. The boy just kept cutting inside and skinning my players. Don't even know how to do that.

There's not much to it. Through balls, lobbed through balls, one-twos (press L1 when you're making a pass) and fake shots (press square then x in a sort of flowing motion) are your friends. Don't go ultra-attacking. Ignore the d-pad tactics, they're all pretty pointless. In the end, it's mind games. You have to know what the opponent's going to do and what they think you're going to do.

Those are old PES tactics. I used to be good at that. Got another pumping, 4-1. Scored my first goal in the 90th. I've never been so angry.

That's the game though. No different styles of play, just two people bashing through balls at each other until marginal (or not so marginal) differences in the mental aspect tell.

Well, that and scripting.
