PCs sold as "gaming pcs" are just a gimmick.  People who don't know what they're buying will get one when they could've got a better spec for half the price.

My laptop is a better spec than some alien ware ones but nowhere near the same prices.

I have a decent enough business laptop but it's dying after 2 years. Anyway not really bothered about PC gaming tbh (tbf).

How good is the xbox one? Worth sacking my 360?

Get one so I can beat you at stuff the one time a year we're both allowed on at the same time.

tbf tbh I use mine as much for media / Netflix as for gaming now.

Dunno I hardly ever play it but that could be down to all my mates using PS4.

It's basically used for fifa when I'm bored and I've got the TV hooked up through it but I've not bothered to set up the TV guide yet. Depends on how much you actually play it tho but I think it's down to about 300 quid or thereabouts now.

As I said I'm looking to move to PC gaming just need to get the space for it. I also just want to try building a computer to see if I can do it Laugh

PC is definitely the way forward. Had mine for a couple of years now, and never looked back.

Just paranoid about how loud the fans get when I'm playing FC3 on Ultra settings. Sob

Modding is probably the number one reason pc gaming absolutely shites on consoles.

Obviously if you`re just an occasional FIFA/CoD player there`s probably not much point but you`d be surprised at just how good some mods are, it`s pretty much free DLC. I`ve tried out tons of Civ 5 and Total War mods and Brutal Doom is incredible, it`s all the greatness of the original Doom multiplied tenfold.

ESO is coming out later this month on console as well.

Pessimistic but will give it a play anyway.

It looks pish tbf.

Don't think it's been received well at all. Are they still planning on having a monthly sub on top of your live subscription?

I'd love to get into PC gaming but I just don't have the time. Occassional game of Fifa or something for me just now. Love the Kinect as well.

Would definitely agree that PC is better for gaming than any console. You might spend £500-£1000 on building your system but it'll run games that'll come out on the next generations of consoles a few years down the line. Then it's a case of upgrading parts as and when you need to, I'm probably going to build a new system when a crazy new FPS comes out that I'm dying to play on ultra settings, I think I've had my current system for about 5-6 years and I've only upgraded RAM at a cost of £40 or so.

Can suggest some sites if anyone plans on putting a computer together.

It's fucking good but a wee bit buggy/glitchy. Prefer oblivion/skyrim (just).

I thought all the bugs were fixed by patches?

Never played Fallout 3, but Fallout New Vegas is one of the best games I've ever played, unbelievable. Laugh I'm not signed up/connected to Xbox Live so I just played it with the original glitchy copy, and one one of my saves it did get unplayable through a corrupt file, but still played through it again no bother Laugh

PC Part Picker is very good for price comparisons - has user-recommended builds too. There are subreddits for building your own PC, which is where I'd go for recommendations nowadays.

I got a pre-built one from overclockers.co.uk, which was/is great, but in future I think I'll buy individual components and pay someone to put it together for me.

Dabs was an old favourite of mine, used ebuyer the last time I bought components. Check out the bundle offers and compare between sites. I had a problem with returning something to Overclockers in the past but I know a lot of people like them.
