Agree with this, although I wouldn't say it's exactly the same.

However we all do things selfishly knowing they usually have a wider impact. Can easily see how people could ride a prostitute and not automatically think about the 'underworld' attached it or the lassies feelings surrounding it. They're just thinking about getting their hole and that's it.

I did. The difference lay in our interpretation of the distance between, for want of a better term, consumer and seller. I think that distance is what enables so many to carry on doing what, when we stop and actually think about it, are awful things. You seemed to use that distance as an excuse... and later described Mags' point as "not much more than whataboutery", which misses the point completely I'm afraid.

The main difference I see with the drugs is you're usually not directly coming into contact with the people who suffer the most.

I don't disagree with you that they're slightly different, as you said you could buy grass from 2 normal people who grow in their loft. Their destruction is not going to be comparable to traffickers kidnapping wee lassies.

You're just one isolated example though, and I don't think it's completely ridiculous to compare two illegal 'industries' where people are killed and exploited all over the world. Like your example of the 2 normal guys, there will be escorts who just ride a few guys a week to make a bit extra cash for themselves who only work for themselves.

You need to look at the bigger picture of how prostitution and drugs effect society as a whole rather than how it purely effects you and your experiences.

In the post I made, I agreed with Mags' point, said that the degrees of separation made it easier for people to reconcile with themselves before explicitly going on to say that effectively, they were the same thing. So where's the excuse? The whataboutery point wasn't even directed at Mags; it was directed at the original use of it to deflect questions put to CC. Who's missing the point?
